Tabloid Teasers Review

My husband bought this game in early 1990's for jr hi aged daughter, and we've had a blast with it. We pull it out when we have 6 or 8 friends over (fun for participants from about 85 yrs to about 10 yrs) just to keep action going. It's easy to converse during the game -- that's a plus.
A friend really loved the game at our house, so I bought it for her as a "hostess gift". Was delighted that I can still find it.

This game is a great family game! You have to try to find a way to lie without being noticed. It might be just a dice game, but it's more original than any dice games I ever played. If you want to lie to your family, (without dishobeying the family rules) this is the game 4 u.

I've played Rummikub for 30 years and finally had to replace an old set. The colors used in this set are AWFUL. the red and orange colors are to close to the same and make game play difficult especially under tunsten light.
Find a version with the original red, blue, yellow & black.

This top quality set is specially designed to give millions of Rummikub fans added enjoyment. Similar to the Rummy that you play with cards - you try to get rid of all your tiles by forming numbers into runs of 3 tiles or more, or 3 to 4 of a kind. The colors of the numbers on the tiles are like card suits. This game may start rather uneventfully, but when the players start putting more and more tiles on a community playing area, the machinations of playing out your tiles can become quite complex. Includes 106 tiles, four playing racks that convert to a carrying case, timer, and instructions. For 2 to 4 players.

I only bought this game because it was a "different" type of board game and was on sale for a great price. We sure got our money worth. This game was a huge hit with the family. Everyone laughs as the beavers get taken down the board. Not educational at all, but very fun. Would recommend this game to anyone. Actually I bought a second to put back for a quick gift.
The case is wonderful. I wish all games stored this easily.

Horton Hears a Who - You to the Rescue

I love this game. I bought it for my niece and nephew a while back and since then have given it out as a birthday gift to two of my friend's kids. In all cases, it has been a huge hit, and I've heard that kids keep asking to play this one over and over. They never tire of pretending to be Horton, putting on the Horton mask, and racing around the house to rescue the Whos. Kids particularly think it's hilarious when grown ups put on the Horton mask. Very clever and sweet; perfect for preschoolers.

People who play "Jeopardy" fall into two catagories... Those who play to prove how smart they are. And, those who play and fail to show how smart they are. Hasbro has done a good job of putting together a decent home version of this classic. The board is well done and the questions give a good range of general knowledge so everyone can play without feeling too intimidated.

Mind Trap Game Review

Mind Trap Game
Average Reviews:

I have had this game for years, and have loved it from the beginning. It is easy to understand, but not for anyone who doesn't like to think. The cards are often complicated - it's not like a trivia game! Sometimes a question can take a while to ponder and figure out, so it's not for anyone who wants a fast paced game. The game is very challenging and fun for people who like logic games. It is best played with a group, but can be adapted to play in pairs as well. I will even pull out random cards myself for fun! The sceond version, Mindtrap II, is somewhat better, with many different types of questions. However, I would reccomend this to get you ready for the second version!

Electronic Catch Phrase Music Edition Review

Electronic Catch Phrase Music Edition
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a fun variation of the Catch Phrase game that has been around for years. My family has enjoyed both the electronic and standard versions of this game.
This version asks users to guess song titles from the 60's on up. It gives you the song title and artist and you must get your team to say the song title without using any of the words from the title. It has a very fun added twist with the new "singing" rules. You can opt to play with the old standard rules, too. But for the new rules, you must get your team to 15 points (instead of 10) and you can get a bonus point when you win a round if someone on your team sang their clues. You're never required to sing, but you'll find yourself compelled to do so if you are competitive and that makes the game a lot more fun.
One minor annoyance is the electronic display width. It is too narrow for some of the long song titles. If you're unlucky enough to get a long title you'll have to sit there for a few extra seconds waiting/deciphering the words while they scroll across across the screen.
Another annoying problem we encountered was the game automatically shut itself off after being inactive for several minutes. We were in the middle of game and took a snack break and the game shut off and lost our scores.
Despite that, I would still highly recommend this game because it is so much fun if it didn't also have a fatal flaw. Repeats. After just a couple of games played we started encountering repeated song titles! We thought at first it was an aberration, but not even close. We scrolled through 10-20 songs just to find new ones that we hadn't played already in the hour or so we'd been playing. Then we would hit new titles for a while only to find a short time later the same problem!
It is not as if we went through thousands of songs before this happened. I think the first time we had probably been through about 50-100 songs when the first repeats hit. We were playing on the combined category settings (instead of one particular era it was giving us songs from the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's). I suspect that is how most people will play it so to have this bug in the electronic game is just inexcusable. I'm sure we likely went through a small percentage of the songs stored in the games memory. Too bad the game comes to a screeching halt with this horrible bug. The game is a riot until the party comes crashing down once the repeats hit after a couple rounds.

There is no better party game for music lovers than Hasbro Electronic Catch Phrase: Music Edition. Recommended for ages 12 and up, this game grills you on music of all genres from the past four decades, forcing you to rack your brain for every bit of musical knowledge that you have. A Thrilling Musical Quiz Electronic Catch Phrase: Music Edition is essentially a high-speed musical quiz, except that you're the one giving the clues. Just like classic Electronic Catch Phrase, you've got to grab it, guess it and pass it on before you get buzzed. When it is your turn, the electronic display will give you a song or musically themed phrase that you will have to describe to your teammates. It is your teammates' objective to guess the word or song, so you'll have to think on your feet and provide the best possible clues. Do whatever it takes: shout out clues, ask questions, quote lyrics, or hum the melody. You can even score additional points by singing the song's lyrics. Once your team has guessed correctly, pass the electronic display to the next person before you get buzzed.Endless Party Fun The ideal party game, Electronic Catch Phrase: Music Edition features a seemingly limitless amount of content. The clues are diverse, chosen from the '70s, '80s, '90s, and 2000s and covering many pop genres, including classic rock, hip-hop/R&B, country, and oldies. The topics range from well-known to obscure, so there is something here to please people of all skill levels. To make things easier, the game has an intuitive electronic interface. Easy to operate, the electronic display has a built-in timer, buzzer, and scorekeeper, which eliminates the need for messy manual scoring. The display screen is brightly backlit, so you can clearly see it even in the dark. All in all, it's a great way to have fun at any social gathering.

Phase 10 Twist Review

Phase 10 Twist
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Phase 10 Twist is a LOT of fun and is my favorite variation of the game (I've tried them all). I like it because unlike the regular Phase 10 card game, everyone gets to advance even if they don't phase out on their hand (if you don't phase you move one space, if you do phase you move two spaces, and if you go out you move three spaces). So the longest you get stuck on a phase (besides the 10th one) is two turns. The twist is really fun too - it mixes up the game and keeps it interesting with ten new phases. If you don't make your phase when you're trying to "twist" you have to move back one space, but if you DO, you move forward double spaces. Sometimes regular Phase 10 can take a really long time (especially with a lot of people), but Phase 10 Twist keeps the game moving. I highly recommend it.

Snorta Game Review

Snorta Game
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This game seems silly and childish at first glance but is actually much more fun and challenging than you would think...for players of any age.
The setup is very simple. Each person gets an animal figure and hides it in a little plastic barn in front of them. Your animal is only revealed at the beginning of the game and is hidden the rest of the time. Then the deck of animal cards is dealt out completely to all players.
The gameplay is very similar to a multiplayer version of Slap Jack. You flip cards down on the table one at a time, and when the picture on your card matches that of another person, you blurt out the sound of that person's hidden animal. This is where the misconception of the simplicity of the game starts. It is not as easy as it seems. With multiple players, you must remember everyone's animal. Not only that, but you have to keep your eyes on all of the other animal cards that are being flipped down...So for example, you have a cow in your barn, you match with a pair of frogs with the person who has a snake in their barn. Then your mind begins a scramble of sorting through all of the different information very quickly. The faster the game goes the more fun it is. Whomever loses the "blurting" match, then picks up all of their cards, as well as all of the dropped cards from the winner. The first to drop all of their cards wins. The game actually gets more and more complicated with each passing game. Seeing as the person who had a Mouse in the last game may have a Sheep in the next and a Pig in the one after that.
Overall the game becomes a fun time of people laughing and blurting out random noises...often times that are just nonsensical jibberish as you scramble to make the right noise first.
This game is very versatile. A friend of mine is a teacher and got a set for her class for rainy days. But we also realized that this could be a great game for small children to teach animal sounds...as well as for older children as an exercise in a foreign language class.

Bunny Hop Review

Bunny Hop
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I spotted this game in a parenting magazine just before Christmas; it had won a coveted spot on their best toys of the year list. I'm always on the lookout for innovative games that our kids, ages 3 and 4, can play with us, so I decided to give Bunny Hop a try. I was not disappointed!
The game is suited for 2-4 players. I was thrilled that my 3-year-old son could play independently, giving him a confidence boost. (Many games that are marketed to preschoolers still require adult assistance, which frustrates them after a while, especially when older siblings can play independently.)
The game begins with all of the bunnies in the patch, and every player chooses a color (blue, red, yellow, green). After rolling a cube, a player chooses a matching colored bunny and pushes it down into the patch. Then the player pushes a farmer, and if the bunny hops out of the patch, the player gets to keep it. (3 bunnies will hop; 2 will not -- of the same color) The first player to get a bunny of all 4 colors wins!
The process is simple and there aren't any real educational benefits as far as I'm concerned, but this is a wonderful game for building in a few moments of family time. The entire game is pretty short, so you can pull it out in a pinch.
We love the game and consider this a marvelous investment!

A fabulous twist on your average trivia game. One player is the reader, and announces the category of the card to the rest of the players. Most cards have 2 categories - for example "Characters in Lord of the Rings:The Two Towers and Countries that belong to NATO". The reader chooses a start player, and players take turns naming things that they think are on the list. The reader uses the nifty little device to mark correct answers. The first player to give an incorrect answer gets a 3 point chip; the next 2 wrong answers get a 2 point chip, and the last few wrong answers get a 1 point chip. Once all the items have been guessed or all the chips are gone, the round is over. Each player moves forward the number of spaces equal to their chip value, except for the Smarty Pants, the person who gave the last correct answer - they get to throw away one chip. The next reader is the person in last place. The game ends when one or more players goes over the end line on the board; the winner is the player closest to the start. Forget Trivial Pursuit - this is much more fun. Plus, who wouldn't love a game that comes with a pair of rubber pants?
