Phantom Force Chess Review

(More customer reviews)I received this chess game as a gift and have played about 15 games on it to date. It is enjoyable to watch the pieces move by themselves.
For playing a casual game, it is very challenging. There are many different levels to choose from (about 100 in total). I am by no means an advanced player (I can't think 7 moves ahead) but I am more advanced than the average beginner (my rating average on various websites is roughly 1800). That being said, I find the lower levels to be rather easy, but on the harder levels I get beaten soundly. Therefore, I would say the game overall is quite challenging. The computer also appears to strategically place its pieces on open ranks and files, rather than just attacking material (which many chess computers often do). For example, I recently offered a rook to the computer because I was about to put the computer into mate in 3 moves and the computer passed on the rook and instead defended against the threat.
The only downside is the game is loud and pieces take a few seconds to move. If you're a "good" player, it's defintely very challenging. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the higher levels beat "advanced" players with ease.

(More customer reviews)My 3 yr. old recieved this for Xmas. Let me start off by saying that I was impressed by the quality of the toy and the care of its packaging. I also thought the playboard was a nice touch. By following the outline of the track sizes I was able to connect the tracks together in no time, which is good when you have an impatient child. As I watched my child play, the first thing I noticed is that the train came off the tracks a lot. I think it's because the track is a fairly tight curve most of the time. That annoyed me more than him. He would just patiently fix it each time. Then I noticed that the giraffe, when placed in the circus car, made the car unstable and it would fall out knocking the car over as well while he was driving around the curves. This frustrated my son a little, me even more! I think it was a bad design to have a tall animal like that. However, there is a fix to that. It turns out you can fit 2 animals in one car, so if you put the giraffe in a car with one of the others, it makes for a more snug fit, adding stability to the car. The last thing I noticed was that when you're driving the train around the circle and want to go through the middle crossover section, this can only be done from one direction. Meaning, you set up the trains the right way to go through the middle, but once you've gotten to the other side, the train is now going in the opposite direction. Thus, you can't go through the middle again! This bothered my son the most and me too. I was finally able to come up with a pseudo fix. I taught him how to drive the train backwards through the middle. He was satisfied with that, especially learning to do something new with the trains. In conclusion, knowing what I do, I don't believe I would purchase this set. If you ask my son, he will tell you he is happy with it. He probably plays with the trains just as much off the track as he does on. I've seen him play with a figure 8 set with one mountain/tunnel, and that kept his interest a lot longer than this one.

Little Mommy Toddler Play All Day Activity Center Review

My daughter (6) got the Little Mommy toddler this holiday season and also this Play Center, and I have to say that she would NOT have fallen in love with the doll without this add-on. There are just so many fun 'mommy' activities. For one there is a slide, a white board, a cell phone, storage area for LM Toddler's special food, a clock, a high chair, and most importantly (who knew? ;-) a potty.
Now if you don't already know, the doll talks and has some sort of system that uses magnets to give her input, so that when you hold food up to her mouth, for example, she makes eating noises; and if she goes down the slide, she goes wheeee; and when on the potty she says something to the effect of 'I did it, mommy'.
Cons -
--I would only pay the discounted amount here and not the full one. The toy is cute and cool, but not THAT cool.
--The slide has this propensity to come apart, but it's easy -at least for a six y.o.-- to put it back together.
--For younger children you should know the white board works and that the marker marks. I don't know about you, but when my children were two, they would have put the marker in their mouth.
--The high chair is difficult to use. The tray doesn't slide and its hard to stuff the doll in. It is also a little difficult for me to put the tray on.
Pro's -
-- The slide and the potty make her talk.
-- There's storage room for the doll's special food.
-- There's a place for the cell phone and marker to go.
-- The white board really works. My daughter uses it to 'teach' her new darling math and reading. She uses the clock to practice telling time.
Four Stars. Not perfect but a lot of fun. I am sooo glad we bought this. It really made the Little Mommy experience complete. There are plenty of activities and chances to practice being a mommy of an older child. Finally, and pretty darned importantly, I would say that it is only worth the sale amount.

(More customer reviews)I can't change my star rating or I would change it to 0. This toy is greatly overpriced and though I got it for a fraction of the cost, I recently returned it. The wooden xylophone is out of tune and not nearly as satisfying for my 20-month-old son to play with as a much cheaper metal xylophone is. The bead maze on top holds his interest the most, but the top comes off very easily when he pulls on the wires for leverage and it's way too easy to get his little fingers under it. The top is VERY heavy. After trying out the wipe off board, it is poor as well. I'm not sure why they made it black. Our wipe off markers, which we had to buy separately, hardly show up on the black board. White would have been much nicer. The peg maze on the side is hard to manipulate and the pegs constantly get stuck. The abacus is fine, but not enough to save the toy. I would never pay the retail price for this. I returned it even though I paid much much less for it. Your child will have much more fun with just about any other toy, and not have to risk crushing their little fingers. I also notice several small parts, perfect for choking hazards, that are merely glued on. NO STARS!!
One other note, Maxim recently had most of their products recalled from a local store here. I won't be buying any other Maxim toys for my family.

This toy makes it all so much more fun! The kids love singing the song over and over, and when their friends come over they always want to play with it.
Everything is very well-made, except our bird's wings fell off. Luckily, they were easy to sew back on. That is the only problem we've had with this product, and it gets a lot of use.

It's super fun for all ages. I bought this game for my nephews and they actually put down their PSPs to play it!
I play against my girlfriend some times, but my friends have also begun to take interest in it. You have a map
of America, with cities and other bonus spaces on it. You have a monster (one of 6 to choose from) from the
classic 1950's monster films. You also get one of the 4 Branches of Military. After playing once, it gets addictive.
It requires luck of dice rolling, strategy of Military movement (you only get 8 units for each Branch), and
trash talking to get other players to go after another player's monster instead of yours.
At the end of the "regular" game (which is Monsters Vs. Military) you go Monster Vs. Monster in an
all out monster battle, to see who is the most powerful monster!
Kicks butt.
Get this game.
My only complaint is it is only for 4 players. We use the National Guard as a 5th player if we have more people.
There are 6 monsters to choose from, only 4 (not counting National guard) military branches.
The other games my friends, nephews, etc. like to play is called Dread Pirate. Get that as well. Simple and fun.
And it's got Pirates in it, so.... good choice.
If you like this game, then you will like War of the Monsters PS2, and
Destroy All Humans PS2

Lego Star Wars Episode III Millennium Falcon Review

(More customer reviews)I just recently bought this for my 5 year old Star wars fanatic. Being an experienced Lego builder, I guided him through the building process, which was pretty sophisticated for this level of Lego set. All the other reviews here are correct, this thing is awesome! Plenty of interior detail, including: many hand tools, Han, Leia, C3PO, Snowtrooper, and Chewie (NO R2D2, though!!). The ramp and escape pod are nice, as is the hyper-drive area and gun turret seat and game table areas.
I can tell you how cool it is all day but here are my gripes: First, the architecture and weight of the falcon lends to alot of stress to the area just below the main gun turret, which supports the front and the rear of the ship through two hidden beams in the floor (the roof, escape pod bay and ramp area give no structural support to the falcon). If you plan to display your falcon, no prob, but if you plan to fly it, this can pose a problem. If you have spare Legos from other kits, you will want to consider making a hidden chassis built off the two long beams under the floor beneath the gun turret extending forward and aft to strengthen the falcon (there is room in the floor because of the sandwich style nature of the floor so that no one can see your modification BUT you WILL need to remove some of the black bricks to do this). As a matter of fact, while doing that, I also made the fenced floor piece that comes with the set removeable for the hidden compartment like in the movie (I can fit 3 figures under the floor panel now!!!). The modifications are best done once you assemble the kit first according to instructions then going back to mod. My second gripe is that the hallway that leads to the cockpit from the rest of the ship doesn't exist. Bummer. And the third gripe is that this design forgot to include the lower gun turret/laser cannon underneath the ship, though this is an easy fix with spare parts from other sets you may own.
Even with these shortcomings, the set was WELL worth buying. IT IS EASILY THE BEST STAR WARS LEGO SET RELEASED. My son absolutely loves playing it and I enjoy making mods to the 'ole Falcon, kinda like Han Solo himself did. Hope this review helps you in your quest for your Star Wars Lego collection!

Whereas Solar Quest required you to take meticulous count of your fuel expenditure, Spaceopoly focuses more on the fun of exploring and building a financial empire of the planets and moons in our solar system, and it adds an exciting element of competition in creating a way for your to "blast" your competitors should their spaceship come to close. I played this version in college and it remains fun for adults as well as children. The "Mars Edition" celebrates the exploration on the Red Planet by recent robotic explorers and is educational in its requirement to know the names of moons of the various planets, some facts about them, and stimulates the imagination through pretend exploration. You can't place houses or motels on your "properties" in Spaceopoly, but there is financial incentive to require all the moons of a planet, and the tendancy to get "stuck in orbit" around a world can make your competitors pay the price if you've been fortunate/smart enough to invest in a certain series or worlds. This is a great game for anyone who enjoys Monoploly but different enough to entice those who don't. I'm very happy to see that it's still available.

She lays out all the cards with the characters on them and tells him to take each character out of the toy and place it on the appropriate card. Orb Factory Magnetic Mosaics Kids Review

(More customer reviews)My two children, 3 and 5, love these mosaics. It keeps them occupied for a long time, and they have something beautiful to show everyone when they're finished. I highly recommend it, especially if your child likes to figure things out (e.g. puzzles or mazes).
If you're giving this as a present, you'll want to plan ahead, for the following reasons: 1) The cubes do not come already separated; they are in one block for each color, with the foam already cut but the magnetic backing only perforated. It takes quite a bit of time to carefully break them apart (remember, it's 600 cubes!). 2) The foam cubes had an overwhelming smell of volatile chemicals when we opened the box. This is normal with foam, but you don't want your children breathing it in. Just break the cubes up, arrange them on some trays, and let them outgas for a week or so in a very warm room that no one uses very much. When the smell is almost unnoticeable, they're ready to use.
Also, you can't complete 2 mosaics at the same time with the cubes provided. (The set only comes with one magnetic board, but we had an extra one, and my children of course want to work on these together.) For the mosaics that don't completely fill the paper with cubes, they have been able to just use different colors in some spots, but with most of the designs, even this won't compensate. I am probably going to buy another set since they love these so much.
Also, there are downloads of new designs available on the manufacturer's web site; just click the "Downloads" link on the bottom right corner of the home page. There are currently only 3 designs for the Magnetic Mosaics Kids available, and they are on letter size paper (much smaller than the designs that come with the set). But my kids didn't seem to mind!
Again, I highly recommend this toy. It has great educational and aesthetic value.
