Phantom Force Chess Review

Phantom Force Chess
Average Reviews:

I received this chess game as a gift and have played about 15 games on it to date. It is enjoyable to watch the pieces move by themselves.
For playing a casual game, it is very challenging. There are many different levels to choose from (about 100 in total). I am by no means an advanced player (I can't think 7 moves ahead) but I am more advanced than the average beginner (my rating average on various websites is roughly 1800). That being said, I find the lower levels to be rather easy, but on the harder levels I get beaten soundly. Therefore, I would say the game overall is quite challenging. The computer also appears to strategically place its pieces on open ranks and files, rather than just attacking material (which many chess computers often do). For example, I recently offered a rook to the computer because I was about to put the computer into mate in 3 moves and the computer passed on the rook and instead defended against the threat.
The only downside is the game is loud and pieces take a few seconds to move. If you're a "good" player, it's defintely very challenging. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the higher levels beat "advanced" players with ease.

Game has incredible voice vocabulary that makes it easy and fun to play, game-saving memory, magnetic chess pieces that fit inside the built-in storage compartment; plus 136 levels (120 for play and 16 for analysis). Requires 6 "C" batteries, not included.

My five year old grandaughter is having lots of fun with this game. I ordered it for her birthday. Her mother finds the educational material an excellent reinforcement for what she is learning at school. She likes its versatility. My grandaughter enjoys it most when she connects it to the computer.

Computer Learning System Review

Computer Learning System

We needed this for our 1-year-old daughter. No doubt that she likes toys, and specially if this is a computer-based. But, I thought it is a USB based thing--so you don't need the original keyboard--and a stand-alone equipment. This was not true: the toy is a simple piece of Plastic that you, when clicking on one button of it, just mechanically push the keyboard button below it (you HAVE TO set the keyboard below the toy. This is annoying, and this is never fits in the first try--although we always manage to do it, and the daughter plays with it. BUt the very need for the existence of a keyboard DISTRACTS the baby. She starts pushing the ACTUAL keyboard buttons (those which this toy is not enough wide to cover, like the enter key and all the keypad). Here, you lose the concentration of the kid.
Moreover, the software accompanying this toy, I would say, is not very educational. The thing is that at this age you would like to have your kid know "Action and interaction" effects. That is, when the baby pushes a button she must see/hear ONE thing, so that she starts to associate things together, and understand that for her push on the button there is a reaction to wait for. What happens in this software, that it is OVERWHELMING with sounds, voices, and pictures, and those come up whether you click on the button once, twice, or NEVER. The 'first-stage' of this software (it has 3 stages) is very confusing. And other than the total noise intake, the kid gets nothing--and the parents get headache.
OK, overall, the baby will enjoy clicking a bit. But, I think the educational value is lost due to the badly designed software, and there is no physical convenience in setting this up--since it is no a simple USB plug and play thing. But rather physical thing with unstable setting.

Parker Brothers Card Games: Racko, Free Parking, Rook Review

Parker Brothers Card Games: Racko, Free Parking, Rook

I've had this game before and it got ruined, so I was thrilled to see it on Amazon.com and had to buy it. However, my excitement was short lived. I couldn't get it to even load on my computer, I even tried a different computer and it wouldn't load on it either. It makes a handy "bookend" to keep my other games from tipping over though. It would have been nice to play it again, if anyone wants it they are welcome to it.

TONKA GARAGE JC Review

TONKA GARAGE JC

The game info includes XP compatible, but not for the all the games. When you go to test the vehicle that you fixed up, the screen goes black and all you can see is your vehicle. There are a few other areas that don't work all the way. My five-year old loves the game, but is very frustrated that he can't do everything. There is no technical support from anyone as the game is too old.

Anno 1503 Review

Anno 1503
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I spent many hours playing the computer version of this popular Civilization-style game. After a mad rush to populate an island capable of sustaining growth one builds a civilization in the usual resource-driven way. If you've played Civ in any of its incarnations or the popular city building games like Caesar III and SimCity then you already know what's expected of you. Reducing that real-time experience to a turn-based board game took some doing but it seems to work. A similar scramble for an island and its resources leads to a clever game experience. You acquire resources and grow your island. Each game lasts about an hour or so. Its fun but the learning curve is moderately steep if you've never played anything like it. But if you like these kind of games you'll like this one.

Alright,
You enjoy TPiR. You want this game. But you've read very bad reviews on this item (as all DVD games usually get.) But listen, they're wrong. I got this item for my birthday, & I had about 7 or 8 people there. Pratically as soon as I opened it,6/7-8 played this. We all had a good time. Our winner won more than $31,000. The only 2 prolems our you have to remember how much in cash & prizes you've won, & you have to keep picking contestants row. Other than that ( & the fact Todd Newton replaced Bob Barker,) it's the best game Endless Games has made yet.

Samurai Swords: A Game of High Adventure Review

Samurai Swords: A Game of High Adventure
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Shogun (later reprinted as samurai swords) is similar to Axis and Allies, except of course it is set in Asia. It's really fun to play as long as you have the patience for it. If you're the type that can't play a whole game of monopoly, it's not for you. The figures are aesthetically well done, and are not too fragile to play with. I played this game in the 80s and 90s, and would play it again today if I had it. If you've never played it, I would recommend trying to find a copy and playing, because it's a great strategy game. It's out of print, so the price keeps going up, but you can probably find a used one for between 50 and 100$.
