Double Dare the Games Review

Double Dare the Games

This home game is based on a show not making new episodes at the time (I hope it is coming back though). If you don't know the trivia you have to do a Stunt/Physical challenge with these interesting puppet hands and this bib around your neck. You get 60 sec. and if you don't get it you'll get water all over your head. I think this is fun and really should be played with two teams of 2 and to make it even more fun with a host to read the questions. If there isn't a host then you basically have to quiz each other keeping in mind the rules. I especially like the format for the home game, but there is no obstacle course for the winner but you most of the time are forced to at least one physical challenge during the game. ALL physical challenges are one player though.
I found this game actually looks like someone took the time to make something that would break after playing it 2 or 3 times. I got mine just yesterday and found that after playing 5 games that this is a strong toy.
They could have done a better job to make it feel more Double Dare like (2 and 4 player physical challenges; requiring a host; an obstacle course; getting rid of that head piece that gets you wet; etc) but if you really want to recreate Double Dare and you can get a host, and 2 teams of 2 or 4, don't use this. Make up your own thing. I DO recommend this if you have only one sibling or friend that you can get to play this with you.
Enjoy

I think this is such a great game. The best part is you can roll the die as many times as you want so you could cross the whole board in one turn, just don't get the black star it ends your turn! I love bumping people in The Pit. The only thing is, all those Items you collect to help you are kind of useless and the game is usually won before anyone uses them. For the price, and with a group this is a great game. Easy to learn.

The Price is Right Game; 1998 Edition
Average Reviews:

"The Price is Right" has lasted for nearly 30 years on CBS because it's fun to watch other people win stuff. Especially when they act foolish doing it. You lose that part of the game when you play at home. You also get the anti-climactic finish of not actually winning anything. But, it's a nice diversion from time to time. For the game show home game collector, this is a must. For the rest of you... probably not.

Alright,
You enjoy TPiR. You want this game. But you've read very bad reviews on this item (as all DVD games usually get.) But listen, they're wrong. I got this item for my birthday, & I had about 7 or 8 people there. Pratically as soon as I opened it,6/7-8 played this. We all had a good time. Our winner won more than $31,000. The only 2 prolems our you have to remember how much in cash & prizes you've won, & you have to keep picking contestants row. Other than that ( & the fact Todd Newton replaced Bob Barker,) it's the best game Endless Games has made yet.

South Park Magnetic Dart Board Review

South Park Magnetic Dart Board
Average Reviews:

I bought this as a gift for my boss as he (and several others on the team) is a South Park fanatic. :)
The moment the box came he tore it open and was very pleased with the board.
Its like a thin magnetic plate with just like the picture shows and the darts the came with it are perfect. They're not flimsy at all. He and the others started to throw the dart from about 15 feet away and the darts landed perfectly and did not slide down (like I worried it would). Wherever it lands it stays and I see this as a very durable toy that will last quite some time. :)
Thank you.

Survivor Game Review

Survivor Game
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After a failed attempt to order this game on e-bay, I was glad to finally buy it at a local toy store. The game contains a voting box, a pad of paper for voting, several pencils, a paper with the rules on it, a big stack of challenge cards and, of course, a million dollars (kidding). Sorry, there's no immunity idol. The game follows the rules of Survivor: you compete in two challenges (the second of which the winner gets an immunity idol or necklace) and then go to tribal council where you vote one player off the island. I brought it home and gathered my family together to play- that's when the trouble began.
-Rule #1 (the most important one): ONLY play this game with people that have good senses of humor and that will not get mad if they are voted off. My little sister was very upset when she got the boot. You should probably only pull Survivor out of the closet when friends are over.
-Rule #2: Play with a lot of people. This game requires a "host" as well as four or more players, but playing with eight is more fun (I haven't tried it with the max number, 16). Playing with more people allows a lot more challenges and voting. Also, a lot of the challenges are made for two tribes to compete against each other, and are less fun with just a few people.
-Rule #3: Get creative! The challenge cards are extremely diverse, and include challenges such as "make a musical instrument out of things from nature and play a song with it" and "give an ice cube to each tribe, whoever melts it the fastest wins". Don't expect to sit on your butt the entire time you play this game, you are going to have to get up a lot and find materials for the challenges around the house. Because a lot of the challenges have to do with creativity, the judging is very subjective. The host gets to judge the challenges, so make everyone promise before they start to play not to argue with him or her.
-Rule #4: Make up your own rules. If you're a fan of the show, you know that alliances are formed (and broken) while playing the game. Even though it doesn't say it in the rules, I suggest a five minute "common time" after the challenges where people can form alliances. When we were playing, there was only one two person alliance that swayed the vote and ended up in the final two.
This game is very fun if you can meet the requirements of all these rules and really makes you feel like you're on the show. If you don't think you'll be able to get enough people, then you probably shouldn't buy this game (instead check out the computer version, Survivor: The Ultimate Edition). I gave this game 4 stars because of the many requirements for fun, and don't expect any educational value except finding out who's willing to betray the others for a prize. Well, the tribe has spoken!

Family Feud 2 Edition DVD Game Review

Family Feud 2 Edition DVD Game
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
One of them most sucessful game shows of all time is Family Feud. The show has had a lot of great family fun and a lot of exciting moments from original host Richard Dawson, to its recent entry as a host John O' Hurley, who recently earned his praaise from Dancing With The Stars, and also hosted the short-lived revival of To Tell The Truth back in 2000. Yet, for Family Feud as a DVD previously, it didn't really seem to shine that well like the original way the game show is played on television, or from several other home versions of the classic game show. Now with all the hype of the show, there is a sequel to the Family Feud DVD game that misses the mark like it did before.
Family Feud Survey Says 2nd edition DVD game, is a bit of a twist on the classic game show format. This edition of the game show pits you and a partner against the big board, where you have to match you answers with the top answers on the top 5 survey. There are absolutely no strikes on this survery. Instead, you are going back and forth trying to match wits, and score as high as possible. The fast money game is also under that same problem, where only the number one answers are given, instead if the smaller numbered answers on the survey. There also are a couple of diasadvantages with this DVD game. The disc features Richard Karn, who ended his run as host of Family Feud earlier this year, instead of John O' Hurley, and he isn't narrating the questions like he did as host. Instead, the feuds announcer Burton Richardson is giving the questions to the players at home.
All in all, the Family Feud survey says game wasn't really what I was expected from it. I was hoping that a lot of the mistakes from the previous game were fixed but I was wrong. Instead, I realy recommend the edition you could buy from the internet at iwin.com instead. It is a much more fun and challenging edition, with all of the classic fun at the same price.

Usaopoly Family Guy Operation Review

Usaopoly Family Guy Operation
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Operation has been around since 1965. I was born soon after, which means I remember the game as popular many years after it's debut. Toys and games are certainly not the same, and the quality is far from anything we remember. It is sad to see what kids get to play with these days. But, this version is not for kids, as the TV show is not for kids.
I am avid Family Guy fan from the beginning, even before it was canceled. I don't collect a lot of Family Guy things, but have all the DVDs etc. But I thought Peter as the patient of Operation seemed very funny, and the fact that it was more than a "bzzzzt". Sure his red nose lights up if you touch the sides, just like the original, but you are treated to a new phrase or sound effect in Peter's voice. Whether he screams or farts, my favorite response is the classic ongoing "sssssssss ahhhhhhhh sssssssss ahhhhhhh sssssss ahhhhhh" which is typically what he says when he randomly falls and hurts his knee, and continues to say it for a few beats too long. A routine on the show that always has me in stitches.
The game quality itself is questionable. It's flimsy blue plastic, warped metal and a cardboard layer. The instrument either fits loosely on it's holder, or gets stuck to the point of the plastic piece holding it breaking someday soon. Then there are the really poorly made pieces you are to remove from the body. The money and cards are fine. There is no holder for the loose items, so I have stored them in a zip-lock bag since nothing it provided. Taking two AA batteries (not included) in the back with a screw on cover features no on off switch, it's just always on. The original has a switch, and a drawer for the pieces.
So, this is a novelty item. A game made by Usaopoly, not Milton Bradley, and it shows. You are paying for the fun of having a licensed Family Guy product in a familiar but altered format. It seems like I have cut this down quite a bit, but your expectations will be exceeded if you expect the worst. A fan of Family Guy, like myself, would be thrilled to get this as a gift, and a perfect gift it is. I almost missed it's existence, so, you are likely to surprise the fellow fan with it. Plus, even if they have it, they will most likely need a backup if they intend to actually use it.

The game stays true to the original format of family feud but the game board was not up to standard. It was a sheet of cardboard that all answers were to be written onto. No one wants to handwrite answers onto a board. I was expecting something similar to the 3rd edition if not better. The questions and answers were fabulous but that board threw me for a loop. When making another edition please consider something different than the current gameboard.

LOST - The Game Review

LOST - The Game
Average Reviews:

Okay, let's just get this out of the way first. This game lost a star because the directions are horribly written. If they would come out with a completely revised edition of the rules (and throw in a few more plastic boxes for the character pieces), it would be perfect. In the mean time, you can consult the official website for expanded instructions as well as downloadable templates to keep your characters and progress organized. That website has been an invaluable resource.
That being said, the hubby and I cannot get enough of this game!! Yes, it can be frustrating to learn, but once you get the hang of everything, you can play this game over and over and over and never have the same game twice. Also, different characters win in different ways, so your end goal can change from game to game! Sometimes the game lasts 15 minutes, sometimes 3 hours. You can control the length of the game by adjusting the board size to your taste.
This is not really a "family game night" or a quick, easy game of Sorry! or Uno. It's a pretty complex game with a lot of nuances, but WELL worth the effort!!!

Usaopoly Family Guy Clue Game Review

Usaopoly Family Guy Clue Game
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you love Family Guy AND Clue, you will might enjoy this game. Otherwise, you will likely be as disappointed as I was, despite enjoying both.
This Fall, Family Guy will premiere with an hour-long episode centered around a Clue-style murder investigation. So I figure somebody over at the Fox TV marketing department wondered allowed, how great a gimmick it would be if there were actually a Family Guy Clue game. A little Googling later and they surely discovered USAopoly's custom games link, which for a mere minimum of 5,000 copies, anyone can produce a custom board game. This also explains the outrageous retail price - double that of the standard Hasbro editions.
Unfortunately, very little effort has been put into this Clue edition, which plays using the same rules as the new reinvention game: Discover The Secrets. Family Guy fans may at first enjoy the familiarity of their favorite TV show licensed onto yet another product, but any elation will quickly fade as one realizes this game is a one-trick pony, a promotional "baseball cap" you have to pay for! For Clue fans, there is absolutely nothing here for you if you're not a fan of Family Guy. The cards are cheap and flimsy, the weapons tokens lack heft and variety, and the player mover tokens are just colored plastic sleeves into which a cardboard character drawing is inserted. The theme and artwork is well integrated, but overall lacks the complexity of even the latest standard edition, combined with many of the reinventions' incongruous stylistic themes.
While the artwork is pleasant enough, the characters suffer from a single drawing of each, which is overused throughout the game. Aside from the 6 main characters, only Joe turns up during gameplay. No sign of Ernie the Giant Chicken or Death depicted on the box cover, nor anyone else you've come to love in Quahog, despite ample opportunities to include them. Each room of the Griffin's house is well represented, but with 4 bedrooms, they get a little redundant. They are also sparse and lack any variety. At most each room contains a single reference to something memorable from Family Guy. 9 rooms, 9 memories. Not bad for $40. That's not fair ... there are also 9 weapons which recall fond memories of favorite episodes. So 18 memories for $40. That's less than $2.25 a laugh. But the lack of creativity doesn't stop there ... this game contains a set of "Intrigue" cards which basically direct players to do certain things (like Chance and Community Chest cards in Monopoly). In USAopoly's other TV-inspired editions like "The Office" and "Seinfeld", these cards have witty quotations to inspire the instruction, which fans of these shows would appreciate (and bringing down the price per laugh in the process). No such luck with Family Guy. Just the plain old boring directions you could get int a regular game of Clue - without the overused Family Guy artwork however.
While I think this game is mostly well done, it feels like little more than a cheap marketing effort. My overall impression is that this game is incomplete, as if the designers could not meet the deadline. Family Guy has such a rich palette from which to draw, I can't help but feel cheated that this is all I got for my $40. I'm certain I won't be the only Family Guy fan who will feel let down by this game. Of course if you enjoy playing Clue, then the game plays normally and fans get the added thrill of role playing one of their favorite characters, but that's about it. If Seth MacFarlane had ANYTHING to do with this game, I will really feel insulted at this lack of respect for the fans. I prefer to think of it as the work of a nameless marketing executive at Fox who knows little more about it than the Family Guy airs on his network.
FInally I can't help but bring up the persistent comparison with the Simpsons, which in this case, the criticism is well deserved. Both editions of the Simpsons Clue game, produced directly by Hasbro, are not only beautifully drawn, with painstaking attention to detail, but contain enough variety and in-jokes incorporated into the artwork to keep an avid fan busy for hours, not to mention the custom figurines which serve as player tokens and the wide variety of beautifully crafted pewter weapons tokens. The Simpsons Clue editions show a loving reverence for their fans, and almost seems to be attempting to give back something in those games. This Family Guy edition seems merely to be out to take your money, oh and cross-promote the 9th season's premiere.
