It came in two packages, one for the pieces and another for the board/storage. Everything was well protected in shipping and arrived in excellent condition. The board is beautiful, actually it's such good carpentry that it's hard to believe it's real wood. The pieces have a nice handmade quality to them and are a very good weight. I didn't need any service so no feedback on that front. Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase.

Lego Knights Kingdom Chess Set Review

(More customer reviews)Don't be fooled. This is NOT the giant chess set that came in a wooden box and was difficult to find last year at Lego stores. That sold for about $200 retail. This is a much smaller set that consists of a simple chess "board" and 32 normal lego figures dressed up in knight costumes (which are already put together by the way). It's pretty unique but you can probably get it for a lot less than what they're selling it for here. I was fooled thinking I was getting the much bigger set. Buyer beware of course.

Phantom Force Chess Review

(More customer reviews)I received this chess game as a gift and have played about 15 games on it to date. It is enjoyable to watch the pieces move by themselves.
For playing a casual game, it is very challenging. There are many different levels to choose from (about 100 in total). I am by no means an advanced player (I can't think 7 moves ahead) but I am more advanced than the average beginner (my rating average on various websites is roughly 1800). That being said, I find the lower levels to be rather easy, but on the harder levels I get beaten soundly. Therefore, I would say the game overall is quite challenging. The computer also appears to strategically place its pieces on open ranks and files, rather than just attacking material (which many chess computers often do). For example, I recently offered a rook to the computer because I was about to put the computer into mate in 3 moves and the computer passed on the rook and instead defended against the threat.
The only downside is the game is loud and pieces take a few seconds to move. If you're a "good" player, it's defintely very challenging. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the higher levels beat "advanced" players with ease.

(More customer reviews)I picked this up on ebay for about 100.00. Beautiful item for the Kong collector, weighs about 35 pounds and seems to be made entirely of cast resin. The board top lifts off and inside is a foam piece with holes for the various pieces. With the exception of one piece with a slight bow to the bottom all the game pieces set well on the board. The figures are sculpted to look rather like Art Deco statues of the 1930's. The black pieces represent the inhabitants of Skull Island and the White pieces are the ship's cast and crew. I especially like the board that has buildings on one side and jungle on the other. The one problem I had (other than the wobbly piece) was that I kept getting the knights and the bishop pieces mixed up as they are of similar height and both represented on the island side by prehistoric animals. (I need more practice to get used to it I guess) I'm pleased as it is a very beautiful chess set of one of my favorite movie characters. At full price it's abit much, but well worth 150.00 or so looking at similar sets.

They were light enough for 4 years old to lift but heavy enough to withstand the wind. Fit nicely on one foot square cement pavers that we used to make an outdoor chess board on. (More customer reviews)Bought these chess pieces for my boyfriend for Christmas and he just loved them. If you're going to play chess, you have to have a medieval chess set. The only thing that keeps happening is that they get knocked over easily so I think the bases should be heavier. The workmanship is great but from behind, you can get the bishops mixed up with the pawns so I took a permanent marker and painted the back of the bishops head (helmet) black and it didn't take away from the painting that already exists. This was the perfect gift this year!

When you open the box, you will get a fold-out chess board (very durable). The board has the EXACT same colors as the chess set seen in "Harry Potter & the Sorcerer's Stone". You will also receive two complete set of chess pieces.
Each piece was designed using the SAME sketches Warner Brother employees used to create the life-size pieces in the movie; they are COMPLETELY identical. The pieces are made of a thick-plastic type of material, so they are very hard to damage (but not impossible).

My decision to buy this product came down to the product description given by Amazon and the seller---how close to the originals these replicas are stated to be. I wanted something as close to the real thing as possible for a good price. I was not disappointed. These pieces and pawns exceeded my expectations. They are a nice size and weight; they stand nicely--no unevenness or wobbles. Each member of this set seems to have its own unique personality, which makes for an interesting study beyond chess playing. (I've uploaded some images for this product for you to view.) There is an antique, human-made feel about these objects that adds to their appeal. They are not TOO perfect---welcomed in today's world of machine-wrought multi-copies. One suggestion that I have is when they arrive, open the box and set them out for a while as the smell of their new finish can be quite potent, if you have a sensitive nose.. I suppose the finish aroma is probably from being packed and shipped.:) // My favorite piece is the Maple King. More than a game item, he's an fine bit of art with his detailed, bearded face and his regal throne. The Ivory King seems a bit chubbier and younger in his little persona. The chess set would make an exciting classroom addition. You could build whole lessons about observation, strategy, and critical thinking with them. This set would also make a great graduation and / or Christmas gift. The vinyl board allows you to play of course; however, once you see these chessmen, you'll want one of those nice boards to compliment them. Do a bit of searching on Amazon to see the boards available. // Yes, Harry Potter fans will find this set intriguing as well, but remember this set is purely Muggle...no magic other than that of your own imagination and perhaps, chess skills! LOL
