Gator Golf Review

Gator Golf
Average Reviews:

I've been trying to get fun games for my 3.5 year old that can be played as a family and this has proven to be a hit. The set is easy to assemble - it includes the cute orange gator, and two putters and a pair of light-weight balls [one set in green and the other in yellow].
The objective is to putt the ball into the little gator's mouth, and each time a putt is successful, the gator returns it with a swish of its tail! The first player to get four points wins the game. This is a great game for counting [the number of putts], improving coordination, building concentration skills and of course, just plain simple fun.
I highly recommend this delightful game for little ones aged 3-5. A value buy for what you get!

This just-for-juniors golfing game delivers grins and giggles every time you play. Establish your stance, line up your shot, and putt the golf ball in the gator's mouth. If you make it in, he'll use his tail to toss it back to you. Game comes with 2 balls, 2 putters and side storage for the clubs. No batteries required.

I bought this toy for my grandchildren ages 3-8 (3 boys and 1 girl). Brought it out on Thanksgiving hoping to keep them occupied while we cooked. It worked. They played with it all day and took turns with out crying and arguing. I also bought 4 extra monkeys to make it more interesting. That was a good idea. Would recommend this to anyone who just wants to get something different to amuse the children.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Game House Review

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Game House
Average Reviews:

We bought this game over 2 weeks ago for our 3-year-old and I have to admit the whole family enjoys playing the games. We spend at least an hour each day playing all of the 8 games:
- memory match
- bingo
- dominoes
- tic-tac-toe
- checkers
- crazy 8s
- go fish
- rummy.
She seems to favor dominoes, bingo, memory match, and crazy 8s the most. I haven't experienced any of the problems with the storage chest construction which doubles as the checker board and tic-tac-toe (drawer)as some of the other Target reviewers. I have to admit, I would have much rather put the tic-tac-toe graphic on the bottom of the drawer rather than the inside since you have to take the drawer out anyway. After 2 weeks of almost non-stop play the memory game cards are showing some wear, which is expected. The domino graphics are showing some wear too to my surprise. I paid $15 for it on clearance at a Target's competitor, and I would have paid $19.99 without hesitation. The games are fun, the graphics are colorful and my preschooler knows all of the Playhouse Disney characters. I will probably end up laminating the bingo cards to ensure durability, but even if everything breaks tomorrow, we got our $15 worth. My preschooler has not enjoyed another game more. This makes a nice gift, and I will go to Target to get another one once this one is no longer playable. highly recommend.

OWI Rockit Robot Kit - Soldering Required Review

OWI Rockit Robot Kit - Soldering Required
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I reviewed a lot of robot kits for myself and my 10 y.o., and most seemed overpriced, uninteresting, or both. The Rockit, however, is clever and well thought-out. A robot that responds to sound as opposed to light or touch is innovative, including the clever reverse-and-turn mechanism used here (if you care to search there is a hobby website with video of the robot in action). The kit involves is a significant amount of soldering, perhaps 25 components, but does about the best job of helping you match components to circuit board that I have ever seen. Consider the slightly more expensive prebuilt board version if you are not comfortable with soldering. The plastic pieces are tricky to assemble, mostly to figure out which piece does what in the somewhat strange design, and aligning the drivetrain is finicky. Allow a couple hours and a reasonable amount of patience to build it.
The result is impressive, even more so for the price. I recommend this without hesitation and will consider other products of this company more closely.

Parrot AR.Drone Quadricopter Controlled by iPhone/iPod touch/iPad (Orange/Blue) Review

Parrot AR.Drone Quadricopter Controlled by iPhone/iPod touch/iPad (Orange/Blue)

If you are not into the RC plane hobby, you need to understand what you are in for. This is a fragile high tech piece of equipment. Those who have flown RC Planes know this but those of you that are new to RC flying would be well served to buy 2 of these. One to fly and one to take parts off of when they break, and they will break.
Any fall from greater that the default (9') will cause extensive damage, a new system board is $99 and the costs of the parts quickly add up. Just a note replacement parts are not shipping at this time.
Yes these are easy to fly, but they are easy to crash and break very easily. I have a broken, central cross, system board, body set, shaft and gear.
It's fun to fly but even after about 10 hrs under my belt I am still using the indoor hull outside. Shaft and gear will break if prop hits anything. Any wind is a problem. My indoor hull is showing signs of stress and I imagine it will not last much longer.
It is well worth the $299 price but keep in mind, it will break,
FWIW I sent support an email over 2 weeks ago and no response, I sat for hours on the phone and never talked to anyone. You are on your own with this. Oh and try and find parts, my guess is 80% of the drones out there are non usable.
Buyer beware THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE TOY, that breaks very easily and the replacement parts are pricey.

Great birthday or Christmas present!! Highly recommend this. I bought this for my 5 year old niece for her birthday. Great family time activity, still easy enough that she can create her own photos, or e-cards, to show off to mom. You take photos with a real digital camera, hook the art desk up to a TV, use an art pad to add decorations, stickers and fun backgrounds to photos. It hooks up to the computer, so you can then email and print the photos or whatever else was created.

This is a fun enough toy, I like that it shuts off when it runs out of balls and then turns itself back on when reloaded. However, the balls are really small and not like a real hockey ball. My 5 year old won't play with it for that reason but my 3 yr old doesn't care about that and will play with it. It basically just takes up space though, no one really plays with it very often.

Ideal Glow Hockey Review

I wanted this to be a fun toy for my sons 6th birthday. It's easy to put together but requires alot of batteries 3-AA and 2-C.
I put the game together which was easy and required no tools, accept a screw driver to get at the battery compartments.
And when my son and I were playing it, I saw that the "puck" was getting stuck on the outer edges of the game board.
As I was investigating this I noticed that there aren't enough holes on the outer edges of the playing surface to keep the "puck"
floating along to keep the game moving along smooth.
I guess I'm having buyers remorse but while it lasts and with the glaring design flaw, we'll play it for all it's worth.
Which I'm going to guess isn't going to be for long.

Alex Toys Glow a Doodle Review

Alex Toys Glow a Doodle
Average Reviews:

This toy is such a piece of junk! You have to unscrew a section of the back to put the batteries in. However, the screw must be made of lead, because the slot where the screwdriver fits immediately wore away, the metal practically smearing, leaving no way to get the screw out. I had to remove another section -- most screws came out, in order to open up the cover over the battery section -- this piece over the battery section popped off then, because the screw was undone, it just would not come out. But, that's not the worst of it. The on and off button gets stuck, and you have to use tweezers to get it unstuck.
The colored pencils are barely visible, and the eraser does not erase the colored pencils. The markers work, but they do not erase unless you erase immediately. Once the marker dries, it will not erase. The eraser becomes coated with this material, and it cannot be removed.
While the concept of this toy is really neat, and could be great fun for a child who enjoys art, it simply does not work as claimed, and it is made of the cheapest materials.

How to Host a Murder: The Last Train from Paris Review

How to Host a Murder: The Last Train from Paris
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a wonderful way to have a dinner party for sure. I embellished and added a second invite and also a sympathy card to those closest to the murdered victom included in a oversized envelope. I had 100% RSVP's on the first round of invites. The kitchen was set up for the dinner party and I had wonderful music to fill the ambiance and the essence of the main course was great. I would read the whole game to familarize yourself as host however...the wording is sometimes difficult and if pre-read you can alert your guests to the "you" which should be "I" when it comes to the person reading the script. After drinking a few glasses of wine and all ....the host should be very familiar with all details to pull of the smooth surprise finish. It was difficult figuring out where the clues were to come in without pre reading and having a couple of glasses of wine when the guests arrived...again pre reading will give the host the tools needed for the grand finale. I think it's also helpful to give "permission" to your invited guests to go to second hand stores for costuming. Second hand stores are great for themed china and vases for flowers...etc. to make your dinner table over the top interesting and for goodness sake don't forget the flowers and candles...and a surprise lemoncello drink to finish off the evening. I'd love to share our photos with you all..and, have a good camera to share later those fun dinner table memories with great entertaining friends.

We got this for our son shortly after turning three. He loves playing Rush Hour, so we thought that this might be another good logic game for him. He absolutely loves it and the lower levels aren't too challenging to turn him away. In fact, he loves working through them and then when he gets to a more challenging level, he is engaged and ready to sit and solve it. We were impressed too because the harder levels really took some thinking on DH and I's parts...and having our son watch us think through and try different approaches when it was our turn, only seemed to reassure him that thinking through things on his challenges were okay.
The pieces are very sturdy as is the board. And the flip book, although it could be ripped in the wrong hands (young child), has held up well in our son's hands, and we have had it for almost a year. Overall, we highly recommend this game. It is fun for us parents to play, and has enough difficulty levels that almost any age could join in the fun. And it is a game that our son requests to play over and over.

My 6-year-old loves to play games with me. Some are more interesting than others, and I always hope he'll choose IGOR, which he often does. Its combination of skill in analyzing probabilities and sheer luck even the playing field without being boring. I can try as hard as I want to win and he still does quite a bit. My understanding of the logic involved grew over several game plays and I still make adjustments in my strategy. My six-year-old picked up on the logic really quickly, too, and I love the fact that he's using his brain while we play together. I actually bought one as a Christmas gift for my sister's family this year we like it so much.

I Spy 3-D Review

I Spy 3-D
Average Reviews:

First, the biggest problem: The "glasses" are not very well done cardboard things, the norm for stuff like this, nothing we haven't seen before. But while the box says ages 5+, they don't fit very well on littler heads. My son is nearly 7, and they still don't fit well and makes it more annoying than fun for him to play with this.
However, the 3D cards are actually pretty impressive. You can actually "see" the pictures and such floating above the cards, and when you reach out with your finger, looks like you can slide it underneath. The 3D works very well.
It can be tough, though, to discern the colors on some of the smaller items with the 3d glasses on.
What's not so obvious from the pictures (I'll upload some more so there's more than the default picture) is that there's no board, the big square it shows is actually made up of cards lined up next to each other. There are a lot of cards. :)
So while it's not going to get used too much right now because my son doesn't like the glasses that don't fit very well (would've been nice had they made a couple sizes in there, maybe one or two for smaller heads and the rest for larger ones), as he grows into the glasses I'm sure we'll play with it more.

I purchased this set containing Jesus and Peter in the boat for a display at our church during the week that our scripture was on the topic where Jesus gets out of the boat and walks on the water and Peter seeing this wants to do the same however, when he tries it he loses his faith and starts to sink so Jesus helps him back up. I think it is an excellent little visual effect for the congregation to connect with even though it is small. I was expecting it to be a little larger. Joan Fratantuono
