Shure - Wooden Alphabet Flash Cards Review

Shure - Wooden Alphabet Flash Cards

I ordered these for my 17 month old daughter, who was starting to display an interest in learning her alphabet and we both had gasps of delight in opening them. They are GORGEOUS in person and made of a really nice, lightweight, but durable material. I love how it includes both upper case, lower case, and a picture of a word starting with each letter. Only complaint, maybe a better case for the cards themselves, the case it comes in is a little clumsy.

I totally enjoyed playing this game with friends! You do not need to have travelled a great deal to be able to answer the questions. I liked how it challenges you to "travel" so many continents in order to win... learned a lot from it!

Monster Under My Bed Review

Monster Under My Bed
Average Reviews:

This is a great game for the specified age range of 4+. My four year old got this game from "Santa" at a Christmas party. We took it home and played it. Granted it is not educational at all but he LOVED it!! The monster is adorable and the game pieces that go under the bed are a decent size so they do get lost as easily as some other game pieces. There is absolutely NO reading required, only matching pieces to a game board. The winner has to get three in a row like bingo or tic-tac-toe. My seven year old will also play the game with him and it is fun for her as well because you never know when the monster will pop out. If you are looking for a fun, easy board game for a four year old that keeps their interest(which is hard to find)I highly recommend buying this game.

Be the first player to reach under the bed and find and match three items in a row. But watch out -- the monster gets nervous if you look too long, and he "growls" a warning! If he pops out of the headboard, you have to clear your score card and start over. Includes electronic monster bed, 12 gross objects, 4 score cards, 40 chips and instructions. No reading required. For 2 to 4 players.

Bamboo Collection Speed Recognition Game, Rapido Review

Bamboo Collection Speed Recognition Game, Rapido
Average Reviews:

This is a unique toy with an excellent concept. I use it at work with special needs kids. It is fast and fun and the kids love it. It is very educatioal, teaching pattern concepts and using lots of coordination skills. There are a few problems with it though. Some of the bamboo tubes, while eco-friendly and very PC have split. ( They would be better if made of PLASTIC.) The rope (which is like a corral) could be thicker; if you are not really careful the balls jump the rope and escape madly about the floor. And there are not nearly enough pattern cards and they are not really graded (for difficulty level) in any coherent way, so I had to make a dozen more of my own out of poster board.
Overall, a good toy though. Just make some more of your own patterns, and be prepared to chase balls across the floor.

What's in Ned's Head? Review

What's in Ned's Head
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The poor quality of craftsmanship really detracts from the possibility of fun with this game. It is just weird enough to be something the whole family wanted to play with. We were disappointed in the following: Ned's head is polyester stretched over a flimsy metal frame. The fiber filling comes out through the shoddy seamwork. The items one is supposed to "find" in Ned's head are beyond cheap: the disgustingly cool looking cotton swab completely fell apart with the first round of the game; the plastic screw is hollow and came crushed; "the vomit doesn't even have any brown chunks in it!", exclaimed my daughter.
All in all, we were completely disappointed in this game as the potential was definitely there. Play it once and stash it or convert it into a mask for next Halloween's trick or treating!

Brain Quest Game Review

Brain Quest Game
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Brain Quest is one of the board games we have played the most. This is because the whole family could play it, even though we were on all different intellectual levels. The adults, or grandparents generally chose the highest grade i.e. 6th. The younger ones went by their grade level or higher depending on the topic. It was suprising to see how much an adult had forgotten and did not know, this added to the fun and sharing experience of adults with children. The children learned in the process.
The drawback for many board games is that different age groups (from grade 1 - 6) cannot sit together and play the game, especially if it is dealing with general knowledge. Brain Quest overcomes that problem. Hence when we have other families with children visiting we pull out Brain Quest, since its rules are simple, and the grame is challenging. The first grader is as comfortable playing the game as the 6th grader and they can all play together! Also the game can be finished in one sitting. I am glad we have this game!
