Star Wars Saga Edition Chess Set Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)For those who may be interested, here is a listing of which pieces are included in this new chess set. For the silver "good" side, the pawns are Republic Clone Troopers, kneeling and holding a rifle. The two rooks are C3P0/R2D2 (together on one piece), and Padme firing a blaster from Episode II. The knights are Han Solo in Episode IV clothing and Chewbacca with bowcaster, and the bishops are Princess Leia from Episode IV and Luke Skywalker from Episode VI. The queen is a bearded Episode III Obi-Wan, and the king is Yoda flying through the air (resting on a piece of clear plastic) with a lightsaber. On the black "evil" side, the pawns are the Episode IV era stormtroopers, kneeling with rifles. The two rooks are Count Dooku and Darth Maul (holding a double-bladed lightsaber and doing a high kick). Bishops are General Grievous (two of his four arms are holding lightsabers) and a General Grievous bodyguard with staff. Knights are Jango Fett from Episode II flying with jet pack and firing double pistols, and Boba Fett from Episode VI, presumably firing his wrist cable. The queen is Darth Vader with lightsaber, and the king is Emperor Palpatine with hands poised for sith lightning ala Episode VI. All pieces are made from molded plastic, and weapons will most likely be deformed and wilted when you remove them from the package. If your lightsabers are not all twisted and warped, be surprised and thankful. Also, getting them put back into their proper (unmarked) place in the packaging is like a difficult jigsaw puzzle. In the end, however, this is a nice set and I believe it is worth the price.

Diplomacy: The Exciting Game of International Intrigue Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Don't let one review skew your view. It's a fun game to play (provided you have the time to play it). There is a steep learning curve, but once you start, it's easy to see why this game was a favorite of some very astute people. This isn't as simply as checkers, but I would easily say it is more simple to learn and understand than chess, and best of all, there is a large community of people playing it, and it's easy to get involved.
Play with smart people, and you'll find this a rewarding, if not sometimes swear-inducing game of intrigue.

Neca Wizkids Games Gremlins Gizmos Great Escape Collector's Edition Game Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This was a pretty weird thing to see at the toy store a few months ago. A board game based on Gremlins??? With little Gremlins and a little Gizmo as the game pieces? Where was this thing when I was little?! This is a cute little game aimed at kids and their families, though I guess it appeals to some 'collectors' too. If you've got children, or brothers and sisters to play board games with, this is a simple one that'll definitely stand out from the others like Monopoly and Crocodile Dentist.
The game comes with 6 figures (Gizmo, Stripe and 4 other Gremlins), cards, instructions and the game board, which is actually just a folded piece of paper with squares on it for traps and the Exit. It's for two people, one person playing as Gizmo and the other as Stripe. If you're Gizmo, you win by making it to the Exit square or destroying Stripe. If you're Stripe, you win by destroying Gizmo or moving Stripe or any Gremlin piece onto the square Gizmo's on. Players take turns drawing cards and moving the number of spaces as directed. The trap spaces are pretty self-explanitory: if a piece lands on the trap space, that piece is taken out of the game until it's over. Yeah, like I said above, this is a simple game that pretty much anyone can play regardless of their age.
I'm giving it 2/5 stars for education since this would be a good board game to get any younger kids started on, teaching them to take turns, go by the rules, count spaces to move, etc. 'not very educational or anything, but it's something. The durability is average since the 'board' is just basic paper folded up a few times, and the cards aren't very thick either. The game pieces are done well, though not 'highly detailed' as some sites claim. All of the Gremlins look identical aside from a hat, mohawk, mask or accessory if they have one. But these are tiny pieces, so it's understandable. And the price is pretty good for this too, though you can get some much bigger board games for a buck or two more. Either way, it's still not a bad deal, and do I need to bring up again that this is a freakin' Gremlins board game????
Gremlins fans don't have much merchandise these days, and this board game is definitely one of the more unique things to come out in a while. It's simple to play, and best for kids 5 and under, but it'd be a fun thing for parents to play with their kids if they're both fans of the movie. And hey, you can always use the little figures as pieces in other games. Gremlins in Candyland? Genius.

Pyramid Home Game Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)If you're a fan of either the Pyramid game shows, or Donny Osmond, you're already aware that the two have come together. When pop culture collides, it usually ends in a mess. This time, it's managed to work fairly well.
The home game version is pretty much a direct copy of the previous Endless Games release. Which means that it's basically a knock off of the '80s Pressman version. Except, of course, for updated graphics and a cheesy cover.
The game play is the same. Get your partner to guess as many of the words or phrases as they can, as fast as they can. Move on to the bonus round for imaginary cash and prises.
Cheesy box aside, Pyramid is still lots of fun.

Donny Osmond hosts Pyramid on TV. It's an updated version of $25,000 Pyramid, the classic game show from the 70s. This exciting home version of the game features all new challenging categories so you can "climb the pyramid" at home. Donny Osmond isn't included, but you do receive a game console, 96 game cards (enough for 48 rounds of play), 30-second time, red reveal window, money point cards and instructions. For 2 teams.

Parcheesi® Game by Milton Bradley Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)Perfect game for the whole family. As long as the players can count, they can participate in the game. I played this game when I was only five. If you ever visit India or Bangladesh, you will find out that every household has more than one Parcheesi. Grandparents, you must have this game at home. Why? Because my grandparents had a great time playing Parcheesi with me. As a result, I had to chance to know them well. Parents, please take my advice and buy Parcheesi for your kids. If they have problem with adding and subtracting, they will learn these for sure after getting the game. Even today, I am fond of this game because it helps me relax.

Phase 10 Dice Game Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I received this for a Christmas present many years ago. My much older bro taught me the card version, and bought me the dice version many years ago. I LOOOVE this!
If you are the kind of person who enjoys doing games that involves sequences, even a tad poker-like, then THIS is the game for you! Instead of getting a flush for suites, you go for all colors in a sequence. A couple of sequences involves having so many numbers in order just like using 5 cards for a straight in poker. There are 3 of a kinds and four of a kinds. But there are times when you would need to make 3 of a kind PLUS a straight in the same turn. But think of it as wild poker, where duces are wild or you play with jokers or you decide on the wild cards because in Phase 10, be it dice OR cards, there are Wilds you can use to bail you out. The awesome alternative is, unlike the card game, you can do this on your own if you wanted to play by yourself bad enough because you have no one to do the game with. But UNLIKE poker, you have a set sequence you do, and you're STUCK until you complete the sequence.
If you are looking for a game for your kids, I would say this game can be played by upper elementary school age without adult or teen supervision. It would be complex for younger or maybe even middle elementary school age kids to do this without help.
And this is cheap enough, baby! :)
Get the game for some rockin' and a rollin' fun! :)
