Cranium Cariboo Review

We got this game for our 4 year old daughter, but the whole family loves to play it, even our 2 year old. It's a pretty durable toy. I would say that the only "issue" is that you can cheat by peeking in the holes to see where the balls are, but that's not really a big deal. The kids just love winning and getting the big jewel in the treasure chest. I would recommend it to anyone. It's good for color identification (for the little ones) and letter identification for the older kids.

I purchased this b/c I thought all four games were included when really only one game which you do not get to choose was sent. The vendor was great about refunding my money due to the error - FABULOUS customer service response from Best Services - highly recommend them based on that!
However, the game we got - Polar Bear was just OK... it is somewhat fun and learning oriented but it is not the best design & can be frustrating because the game parts come apart or do not work right...

The Fairy Princess Game Review

The Fairy Princess Game

This is a fun and cute game for little girls. The manufacturer suggest 4 and up, but my eight year old felt it was too young for her. She is the ultimate girly girl. If an adult participate this would make a great game for all girls under the age seven, that is willing to sit long enough to get through the game. I would also recommend Pretty Pretty Princess by Milton Bradley to compliment this game. It's very similar to The Fairy Princess Game. I feel girls ages 4-9 will enjoy this one. Both are fun and you will want to play over and over again.

Briarpatch Madeline In Paris Review

I have been playing this game at a summer camp with children from ages 4-6. This game has been more successful with the 5 and 6 year olds, who can sit still longer. The game is fun because the objective isn't just to circle the board, you must also match pictures. The graphics on this game are wonderful. The kids have enjoyed just looking at the images of Madeline in Paris. I would highly recommend this game for all of the Madeline lovers out there.

Leaping Lizards Review

Leaping Lizards
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Leaping Lizards is a wonderful and compact matching game from Gamewright Games, who make a whole line of inexpensive, educational and fun board and card games. Instead of a conventional playing board, the game is played on a long cord which has beads strung on it. The spaces between the beads are the playing spaces, and players race to get their little wooden lizard to the end.
Game play is relatively simple. Each player gets a set of "Creature Cards". Before every round, they pick one of their creature cards to be their match. Then the creature tiles (which are two-sided) and the lead lizard tile are shaken up in the provided cup and spilled out. If the lead lizard tile has a smiley face showing, the player whose lizard is furthest back in the line may move their lizard as many pieces forward as they have matched their creature card to the creature tiles. So if they chose a dragonfly as their creature card and three dragonflies are showing face up, they may move three spaces forward. If the lead lizard tile shows a sad face, the player whose lizard is at the front of the line must move their lizard back as many matches as they've made.
Matching skills are the only essential skill needed for the game, kids who are still too young to read can play this game easily. It's also completely a game of luck, which levels the playing field between different ages of children.
Because of this game's super-compact size, it makes for a great travel game. It'll work on airplanes or in back seats, and kids will have fun with it for hours. The illustrations are wonderful and the pieces are made with real materials. This is a great game!

Feed The Kitty Review

Feed The Kitty
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We bought this game to play with our sons (ages 3 and 5) and they love it! It's easy to learn, quick to play, and a lot of fun. And unlike some of the kid games out there, it's not mind numblingly dumb or boring. Our boys love being able to roll the dice each time--and believe it or not, this is one of two games we own where there are no tantrums over who won and who lost. They just ask to play again, again, again!
It's even good for kids who aren't counting very high, and both the kids are engaged while we play. There are probably more educational games around, but this one is just plain fun. :)
A quick 'how to' for this game:
Roll the two dice.
Sleeping kitty - do nothing
Arrow - pass one of your mice to the person on your left
Mouse - take a mouse from the bowl
Food bowl - feed the kitty one of your mice
So if you roll an arrow and a food bowl, you pass one mouse to the left and put one in the bowl. The last person with mice left wins. Very simple to play and as I said up above, it's a quick moving game--no time to get bored.

Will you be caught catnapping or will you pounce into the lead' The answer is all in the roll of the dice! Includes 20 wooden mice, 2 custom dice, kitty bowl and rules of play.

Topple Game Review

Topple Game
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Topple is a great value for the entertainment that you get fromthe game. For so little you will have many hours of family quality time.
Description: Topple is played by rolling a die which determines where you can place your colored game pieces. Bonus points are scored if you are the first one to complete a row. In addition you get points for each of your colored pieces that are present in the row. As the game progresses, if there is a vertical stack of three or more you will also score points. There is an element of chance to this game, but skill in placement and daring can help you overcome some of the chance. The game is only 15-20 minutes long so you won't be playing all night. One disadvantage is that there are only enough pieces for four people to play at one time.
Rating: I gave this only four stars for durability because you must disassemble the game to store it compactly. There is a small risk to break the stand. Also the game pieces could get lost-there are no extras. But the game is such fun to play. Our family has been playing it at least three times a week for the past month and we still love it! As for educational value, there are better games for that such as Set and Mastermind. However, children can be taught math skills by keeping score with tally marks and recapping the score at the end of the game counting by 5's. Other visual skills such as balancing the board or estimating when one more game piece will topple the board are also learned.

Cranium Cariboo Island Review

Cranium Cariboo Island

My 2.5 year old has a wonderful time playing this in beginner mode. I also got excited watching her demonstrate how well she knew her numbers, letters, shapes and colours. The concept of the game has just the right amount of complexity to keep her (and me) interested, but is simple enough that she knows exactly how it works and it doesn't require ongoing guidance or coaching every time. I like that it has a harder level - though I expect it will have to get put away for a while to make it interesting again once her interest wanes at the easy level.

Gamewright Hisss Card Game Review

Gamewright Hisss Card Game
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
They discribe this as a card game, but you don't have to hold the cards in your hand, you just fan the entire pile out across the floor and take turns picking a card from the pile, And the peices are heavy like puzzle peices, not thin like cards.
You spread out the cards on the floor, picture down. Take turns picking a card. If the card doesn't match any of the snakes that are on the floor then you just set it down to start a new snake. Each snake must have a head, tail and atleast one middle section. The more peices you get on the snake the better, but the initial object to the game is to form the most snakes and then move it over to you side of the floor(the snake pit). If there is a tie in the number of snakes, then the longest snake wins.
This game is appropriate for ages 3 and up. This is a fairly simple game. I would say most 7 yr old and older would find it boring unless playing with a younger child.
We have two sets, so we can make longer snakes.
Need to play this game on the floor.

As each Hisss snake slithers its way across the playing area, it introduces color identification and visual logic: Does it make sense to have a snake with two tails and no head' Are those two colors the same or not' Even elementary counting skills come into play during scoring at the end of the game. No reading required. For 2 to 5 players.
