Topple Game Review

Topple is a great value for the entertainment that you get fromthe game. For so little you will have many hours of family quality time.
Description: Topple is played by rolling a die which determines where you can place your colored game pieces. Bonus points are scored if you are the first one to complete a row. In addition you get points for each of your colored pieces that are present in the row. As the game progresses, if there is a vertical stack of three or more you will also score points. There is an element of chance to this game, but skill in placement and daring can help you overcome some of the chance. The game is only 15-20 minutes long so you won't be playing all night. One disadvantage is that there are only enough pieces for four people to play at one time.
Rating: I gave this only four stars for durability because you must disassemble the game to store it compactly. There is a small risk to break the stand. Also the game pieces could get lost-there are no extras. But the game is such fun to play. Our family has been playing it at least three times a week for the past month and we still love it! As for educational value, there are better games for that such as Set and Mastermind. However, children can be taught math skills by keeping score with tally marks and recapping the score at the end of the game counting by 5's. Other visual skills such as balancing the board or estimating when one more game piece will topple the board are also learned.

STARE JUNIOR Game - 2nd Edition Review

STARE JUNIOR Game - 2nd Edition

My kids (aged 6,7 and 11 - two boys, one girl) really love this game. They've had it for a while now and they're still at it constantly. I can see what they find so addictive. First you have the cards themselves, which are wide-ranging in terms of content, not to mention very fun to look at (they'll be staring at them long after the game is over!). The questions are well thought out and easy to understand and there's a nice balance of direct, multiple choice and true/false questions. I particularly like the fact that they get the chance to strain their brains and senses, instead of just their eyesight in front of the TV! I highly recommend this game.

Kids can test and train their visual memory skills and have a blast doing it. In Stare! Junior - the game - players have 30 seconds to stare at an image on a card. Images are varied and fun for kids to look at. It might be a movie poster, funny photo, comic, work of art and more. When time is up, an opponent will flip over the card and ask the player a series of questions about the image to see how much they can recall. What was the clown holding in his left hand? What color was the girl's hat? Guess right and advance on the game board. Kids can play individually or on teams. The revised Second Edition includes larger image cards containing all new images and questions!Includes 960 questions on 160 image cards, game board, sand timer, playing pieces, die, and instruction sheet.

Hi Ho Cherry-O Review

Hi Ho Cherry-O

Our 3-yr old received this game as a gift and thoroughly enjoys it. It is a terrific way for kids to understand how to play board-type games; taking turns, setbacks, etc. The basic game simply has each player remove the number of cherries spun on the spinner. However, there are some "bad" spins that force you to put cherries back on the tree. At first, kids are disappointed to move backwards - but over time, they get the idea that sometimes this happens in games. We use it as a way to start teaching basic math. "If you have 8 cherries and get to take away 2, how many will be left on the tree?" The little cherry buckets are definitely made for kids hands and fingers - they are tough to maneuver for an adult. Small price to pay for a simple to understand, terrific little game.

For over 30 years, Hi Ho! Cherry-O has delighted children and parents with its simple-yet-fun introduction to counting. Children try to be first to pick their trees clean, filling their buckets with cherries. Just watch out for the dog, the bird, and the spilled bucket! Colors and parts may vary. No reading required.
