Sababa Wizardology Spells N' Potions Game Review

Sababa Wizardology Spells N' Potions Game
Average Reviews:

To excel at this game you really need to work as a team with your real (or imaginary) partner. I love the "gotcha" element when a well played card changes everything. The basic rules of the game are similar to spades or hearts or bridge, but the spell and potion cards add a new twist. I've played this game with adults and with kids as young as six and they all love it. For any fan of the Wizardology book or the Harry Potter series, this is a must have.

I use these for my Magic cards, and they are great, easiest shuffling sleeves I ever tried. I don't know why, and you can call me crazy, but the white ones shuffle better than the black ones. There is a tiny hologram at the bottom of the face of these sleeves, which covers nothing on Magic cards.

I got these because I was traveling and had the Magic bug. I wanted some quick easy decks to teach my friends how to play and get a few duals in. We were playing these decks and one thing became clear. Out of these four decks, the Sliver Evolution deck is far superior. As soon as the Watcher Sliver hits the table, the creature removal in the other three decks is useless and it's game over.
Great Themes, great playable decks. But if you get to pick, pick Slivers.

The cards are great. They came on time and they where in perfect condition. The package had not bean tuched and the decks where great! The box consist of two decks each forty cards. I believe that one deck is white and green, and the other is black red and blue. Together the decks make a wonderful rainbow deck as long as you tweak it a little.

Magic the Gathering - Seventh Edition Review

Magic the Gathering - Seventh Edition
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm going to say this straight off: the Bomber deck is arguably THE best (next to Way Wild) deck for the Seventh Edition set. Not only does it have a wide array of great and sneakilish cards; such as Ancestral Memories, (rare), Daring Apprentice, (rare), Air Elemental, Merfolk Looter, and of course the lovable Wind Drake and Counterspell, but it does a good job of introducing new players of Magic to many important aspects of the game. Also, some of the cards in Bomber (i.e., Ancestral Memories and Merfolk Looter) work surprisingly well with the new Odyssey block's (Odyssey, Torment and Judgment sets) mechanics, Threshold, Flashback, and Madness.
This 40 card deck, complete with TWO rares and a randomly inserted foil land is well worth its value ... and should be strongly considered being added to anyone's collection.

I was $5 away from free shipping so I added this pack. Its pretty nice because Mirrodin has so many cards that are still playable today (2010). They don't make sealed deck tournament packs now, instead opting to use 6 booster packs, but if you can get your hands on old ones like this for cheap, they can be worth it. Google "mirrodin spoiler" for a list of cards you could get.

Rubiks Magic Review

Rubiks Magic
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Those old enough to have been around during the 80s might just remember this ultra, cool invention from the same guy who created the Rubik's Cube and other brain teasers from that era. This new 2008 version of Rubik's Magic even has the same colors as the famous cube!
The Rubik's Magic is a super fun shape shifting folding puzzle. The object is to link 3 rings, hence the title.
The puzzle may seem difficult at first to solve, but if you can find your way back the starting position go to Youtube.com to learn how to solve. It is a pretty easy puzzle to solve and people love watching you solve. Something about this puzzle is just so stunning to see and hear.
I so far know 4 ways to solve it. The main thing to keep in mind is if you feel resistances when you are folding don't force it because this thing is made of strings and you can break it.
Parents might want to help younger children on how to solve it and handle it. The toy can be slightly frustrating when you are first learning how to solve it.
I love this toy, but I have to be honest that if you are new to this toy or are just starting to play it again for the first time in 20 years there is a chance you could break it at some point. I accidently broke one of mine recently after learning a new way to solve it because the guy in the video was using a modified version and didn't make that clear and I ending up breaking mine.
In closing, the Rubik's Magic is a very addictive, inexpensive toy that fascinates every one of all ages. This 2008 edition looks great and is even sleeker than the older version. It's not that hard to master and will give you the confidence to take on a harder challenge like the Rubik' Cube which now I can solve because of a little help from Youtube.com too! Any toy that helps you to think in a fun way is an A+ in my book!!!
I hope they re-release the Rubik's Magic sequels in the future...

Rubik's Magic is made of 8 colorful panels connected with a filament similar to fishing line. Each panel is printed on both sides with different designs. You can flip and fold the panels into cool shapes and designs, or try to solve the magic challenges given in the included solution hints booklet. Another great brainteaser from the Rubik's family!
The manufacturer suggests that Rubik's Magic is for ages 8 and up but due to the delicate nature of the puzzle's construction, we here at Uncle's Games recommend this product for ages 12 and up.

Ouija Board - Pink Review

Ouija Board - Pink
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought the pink ouija board for my daughter thinking that the color pink would only attract friendly spirits to her slumber party. Well, the results were mixed; the first spirit REALLY liked pink, and was friendly but apparently was a poltergeist, 'cause it started redecorating the den. Lilith Greenwand (the name my 13 year old insists being called now) did some kind of ritual and banished the spirit. She and her friends set to work again - they are so cute with their chants in the language they made up and their little black robes and hats!! The next spirit they summoned with the pink ouija board was less benign and several of the girls started projectile vomiting/speaking in tongues/bleeding from the eyes. Luckily, I had just taken my headphones off (listening to my old Norwegian Black Metal records again!) and heard the commotion - I immediately donned my "Three Wolf Moon" power t-shirt and ran into the basement. The sheer force of the shirt sent the spirit back where it came from, cured the girls, tuned the TV to the 700 Club and closed the evil pink portal.

World of Warcraft: the Board Game Review

World of Warcraft: the Board Game
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had first read about the World of Warcraft board game in an issue of Game Informer. How could a game as epic as WoW could be made into a board game? What about all the small details everyone loves from the PC game? PvP? Raids? Loot? Rest assured, it's all here.
This game is HUGE. That's the only word for it. There are over 1,000 pieces. Anyone curious about the steep price tag, trust me, you get what you pay for. The pieces are very well sculpted. The character pieces are not painted (would have been nice), and the monsters could not be painted. Monsters are a fairly unattractive array of blue, green and red. Everything else in the box (including the box itself) looks great. The amount of graphics from the PC game are endless. Fans will love to see how much graphic detail was put into the visuals of this game.
Like many of FFG's games, there are a ton of rules. They aren't hard, there's just alot. I won't go into detail on them, but instead say what I don't like. The setup time for this game takes forever. There's just so many pieces and cards that need to be set up and distributed. If you have several players and everyone helps, it isn't so bad. But if it's just two players, get ready for 30-45 minutes of setup.
The game is extremely long. Not really a bad thing, since it is alot of fun, but the downtime between each player's turn can make for some boredom. The more players, the worse it is.
And my third and final gripe is that there really isn't an incentive to fight independent monsters. Some monsters are fought to complete quests, but random monsters are "generated" with each new quest card. And independent monsters are tough! It's mandatory to fight them if you encounter them, and being as difficult as they are, some reward should have been given. This problem is addressed in the expansion "Shadow of War."
Fans of the PC game curious about the game shouldn't be deterred by my comments however. This is a great buy for any WoW fan with alot of time to kill. It's not perfect, but impressive none the less.

Eragon, The official Motion Picture Board Game Review

Eragon, The official Motion Picture Board Game
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
While no one's accusing the motion picture Eragon of dazzling at the box office, all signs to an official board game based on the substandard movie based on a mediocre book series point to disaster. As it turns out the game manages to fall victim to some of the usual pitfalls associated with movie tie-ins and actually manages to sidestep a few others in the process.
Brought out by a company called Mega back in 2006, Eragon the Official Motion Picture Board Game earns high marks for its actual game components right off the bat. Rather than play as cardboard cutout or plastic miniaturized versions of the film characters, the player pawns are well-constructed sword hilts (complete with different-colored gem stones in the handles) that's blades appear to be thrust into the ground. Very cool! The five-fold board too deserves credit for boasting a full color rendition of the fictitious kingdom of Alegaesia that puts to shame the efforts of the book series on which the game (and movie) are based. Other notables are the three dice used throughout the game: a beautiful partially transparent sapphire six-sided for movement, a ten-sided red die to indicate strength and a twenty-sided green to represent magic. 52 cards made of average cardstock handle the in-game orders. Finally the game includes 100 sapphire crystals (plastic beads) that represent a sort of currency/ win-determination and a nice suede bag in which to store them.
Setup is as simple as opening up the fairly large board and placing the player pawns on the start square. The board contains a spot for both of the special dice as well spots for the card pile and discard area. The beads are, of course stored within the suede bag but plan on using snack bowls or cups to store each player's supply of gems (twenty each for 2 players, ten each for 3 or 4) as these guys just love to wander!
As is so often the case with movie-tie in games in general (fantasy themed in particular), the core of the game is little more than a succession of dice rolls. In Eragon you roll a die to move, follow the instructions on the board (which range from (commonly) drawing a card, raiding an opponent's gem supply, to having the option of laying down a challenge). It is the last option that makes this particular game a little more than just a dice-roller. The challenge option allows the player to pick an opponent of his/her own choosing for some old fashioned betting. Only rather than money, the stakes are those pretty little beads I was telling you about. The challenger decides how many he wishes to bet (limited of course to how many he has) and the opponent has no choice but to accept and put up the number of gems requested. If the opponent can't meet the challenge moving back on the board is the penalty. The gamble itself comes (unfortunately) down to but another roll of the die (either the red strength die or green magic die; challenger picks) and highest roll wins the duel.
Sparing the exercise from complete monotony are a few "protection" cards buried in the deck that the recipient is allowed to hold onto in the event that lose a challenge and don't quite feel like paying the penalty. Additionally a couple other cards (like the Battle routine) make drawing a card from the deck a little more than simply collecting or giving away gems based on some lame paragraph involving something that happened in the flick.
To the designers' credit, it is equally thoughtful that they implemented multiple paths along the board and the ever welcomed feature that the first player to reach the end is not the winner but rather the game ender who receives a bonus (5 gems) for his efforts. The real winner is, of course, the one with the most gems in his or her dish at the end. Nice touch. While we're on the topic of interesting little touches, it's equally cool that to enter the final section of the board, the player must roll a 1 on the movement die or waste his turn trying. It's these little measures that keep the game from falling victim to the same garbage that is the Lord of the Rings movie games from RoseArt.
In all, Eragon the Official Motion Picture Board Game isn't a bad way to spend a half-hour (2-4 Players, ages 8 and up) so long as the gamer goes in with realistic expectations. The game comes down to little more than rolls of a die for all of its decision-making but it is commendable that the designers did what they could to offer the player a few choices along the way. The most compelling aspect by far to report would have to be the inclusion of the betting element, which can completely change the outcome of the game at any given moment. The luck of the draw, er actually in this case, the roll is still the deciding factor but protection cards and gem budgeting bring just enough strategy to the formula to make it worth coming back to as a perfect filler game.

This game is a tie-in to the movie Eragon (from the book of the same name by Paolini) which is being released in 2006. This is a game in which players use dice, sword hilt shaped pieces, egg-shaped sapphire blue stones, and cards to move across a map of Alagaesia. The game is set for release on October 15th, 2006.

Magic the Gathering Deck Protector Sleeves (80 Count) 82074 Review

Magic the Gathering Deck Protector Sleeves (80 Count) 82074
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Oh, there's not much to say about these sleeves in particular. I just want to point out that these aren't a perfect duplication of the back of a Magic Card. The logo is different, for starters. A real Magic Card has the word "Magic" written in blue with a red/orange boarder, while these use yellow with red. Plus, it's missing "Deckmaster" which is printed near the bottom half of a normal Magic Card.
The other side of these sleeves, at least in the case of mine, are white. I think its a very good choice. The white surrounding the normal black boarder of a Magic Card give it an elegant and clean feeling. They're also nice and glossy.
Getting 80 for $8 sure beats out other Ultra Pro offerings - Ultra-PRO Solid Color Deck Box: Black. Even if they come with a deck box, these only come with 50 sleeves, useless when a Magic Deck is 60 cards minimum. Sure you could buy two or more to rectify this mistake, but there's no guarantee that the sleeves inside the deck box will have the same pattern or be the same TONE of black. I've had that happen to me a few times.
