These older versions are so much better than the new ones. While the topics are not current, the answers are reasonable. On the new versions, answers are repeated constantly.

Electronic TABOO Review

Electronic TABOO
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you have the standard version of Taboo, you might wonder why you need the fancy-schmancy electronic edition of Hasbro's popular restricted-clue word-guessing game. With an LCD screen and a mechanized lid, there's just more to go wrong, right? Maybe--but several new and improved benefits make it worth it.
The electronic version features more puzzles (2200), three skill levels (determined by the number of taboo clues--3, 5, or 7), variable game lengths (4, 6, or 8 words per round) and for those of us with tiny closets, a smaller box! Even more improved is the buzzer. Lots of people liked Taboo the first time they played it, only to learn to loathe the aggravating, obnoxious sound the buzzer makes when a player says a taboo clue word. The new buzzer, which is smaller and fits neatly into the base of the game unit itself (check out the extra photo Amazon provides above), is now more of a pleasant chirp. That alone could bring players back to Taboo in droves, but the automatic scorekeeping and compact design (the main unit is passed around between players--one machine is all you need for multiple players) should help a bit too. If you liked the original game, the Platinum edition is definitely worth the extra bucks.

Comotion IS the name of the game. In our games we had people acting absolutely crazy ...all to help their team win! Even my Mom got into it...I'd never seen that side of her before!
Here's just a taste..Can you image someone acting out "ants in your pants"?
How about 3 different people from 3 opposing teams acting it out at the same time? I've seen it! It IS quite a CoMotion! You're friendly get-together will never be the same!!

This game is a great game to play with family and friends. expect to be unable to keep a straight face as you laugh at the other team trying to make sense of the cards. If you need a greater challenge try the standard game. the Bible edition is much easer but far more enjoyable.

Brain-O-Matic Electronic Trivia Board Game Review

Brain-O-Matic Electronic Trivia Board Game
Average Reviews:

What may seem to be a child's game is really an incredibly fun game for all. Questions range from easy to challenging - for any age - with occasional brain relief in the 'no-brainer' category. We love it!

Click Here to see more reviews about: Brain-O-Matic Electronic Trivia Board Game

Be the first player to get to the brain when you play Brain-O-Matic from DaMert. Play commences when the youngest player presses the button at the back of the brain that's sitting in the middle of the board. When the brain's music and lights stop, the category on the brain that remains lit determines what sort of question the player will answer. There are seven categories: Science & Nature, History, Popular Culture, Arts, Geography, Sports & Games, and No Brainer. Each question card (except No Brainer) has three questions arranged in order of difficulty, so kids of several ages (8 and older) can play together and have a chance to win. A fun, cooperative game for the whole family. --Margaret Quinn

My kids loved this game!! It is worth every penny! Each of the characters has a different "super power" which helps them move around the game board. There is also this "working together" theme throughout the game which really gets my kids to work together (and of course is something every parent has got to love). And then the game always ends with this frantic chase for Doom. Overall opinion: great game for a great price!

What an excellent game! Trailblazer is a fun, challenging way to learn American history. Each question card has questions of different difficulty levels, so parents, older kids, and younger kids can all play together and learn something at the same time. I would enthusiastically recommend Trailblazer for families looking for constructive ways to have fun together, for home-schoolers, and for teachers -- it is a innovative learning tool, and great fun to boot.

It definitely stimulates the mind and helps with the grammar skills as well as being FUN!

Apples To Apples Party Box - Expansion 1 Review

Apples To Apples Party Box - Expansion 1
Average Reviews:

We love Apples to Apples and we had gone through all of our cards a few times. New cards seemed like the logical choice. However, additional variety in this expansion set would have made things even more fun. All the cards are in the format of "____ and ____", like "sugar and spice" or "hot and spicy". They did add a freshness to our play, but are sometimes very difficult to play with. You might want to buy this, so long as you know what you are in for. We mixed them in with our original set and are having fun with them.

R and R Games Time's UP - Deluxe Review

R and R Games Time's UP - Deluxe
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you like Time's Up, you will probably like this sequel. It is a fun party game. Players take turns trying to get their partners to guess famous titles of songs, movies, fine art, etc. The first round, pretty much anything goes. You can say whatever you think will get your partner to guess correctly, as long as you don't say any words on the card. But you can't pass. This is where the title version is slightly easier than the name version. If the title on your card is something your teammate has never heard, you can try to work out the various words. (ie If he/she is not familiar with "The Blue Boy," you can probably still get those words out, whereas if someone doesn't know the name Shahrazad... good luck.)
The second round, you use the same titles and can say only one word to get a guess and you can pass if you can't think of a good one. This round usually goes pretty fast. The third round, no words are allowed. Your partner must guess off gestures and sound effects only.
Title Recall also adds an optional fourth round where players guess the titles based on a single pose. This sounded pretty difficult so we haven't tried it, figuring why mess with a good thing, but it could be fun.
The game is best played with four or six players (with six you can do two teams of three or three teams of two), more players and things can get hard to follow.
This is definitly one of my favorite games, but I still had to take away one star because the makers downgraded the sand timer. You get a teeny tiny timer that is very difficult to see. Several times the sand was stuck and it took time for anyone to notice. We've mostly taken to passing the timer around the table so one person is in charge of watching it (holding it at eye level is about the only way most of us could see it), but it would work so much better if everyone could watch it.

WISE AND OTHERWISE Review

WISE AND OTHERWISE
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This game is similar in style and play to other board games like Malarky and Balderdash. However, I would recommend Wise and Otherwise over either of those games. In Balderdash, players come up with meanings to words 99% of the population has never heard of, and try to convince other players that their definition is correct. In Malarky, players answer questions that 99% of the population would never ask. In Malarky, I found that many people came up with very similar answers which took some fun out of the game. In Wise and Otherwise, players have to finish foreign sayings that rarely make sense. One example: If you take a squirrel out of water.... The real answer is, "he will devise a plot against you". Every player would have written down an ending to the statement and handed it to the reader, who would then read everyone's aloud as well as the correct answer. Players vote for what they think is the correct answer and hope that others will vote for theirs. As you receive points you move your pawn up the board and the first to the end wins. Creative people will really enjoy this game because many times the correct ending to the statement is extremely goofy. The whole spirit of the game is light-hearted and the losers have just as much fun as the winner. (By the way, I won today!!) For fun I gave the game five stars, because everyone really gets into the game and enjoys themselves even if they're in last place the whole time. For education I also gave it five stars because listening to these odd sayings gives people an idea of what foreign cultures are like. This game is also very durable due to the sheer number of sayings and the fact that nobody could memorize all of them.

In Wise and Otherwise there are 2,500 wise, funny and unusual old sayings from around the world, and more than a few possible endings!During play the first part of an actual but little known old saying is read aloud. Then, with a little wit and imagination each player writes an ending to go with the beginning. The made-up sayings are read aloud along with the actual old sayings, and everyone tries to guess the real one. You'll get points when other players think your ending is the real one, and points for guessing the real old saying.

R and R Games Time's UP - Title Recall Review

R and R Games Time's UP - Title Recall
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This excellent game is a variation on the original Time's Up board game. In the original, you have to get your teammate(s) to call out the individual named on the card. In this version, you have them guess the title of a movie, book, poem, play, song, album, game, painting or statue. Some friends found this to be much easier, as they were more familiar with the subject matter. Easier, maybe, but just as much of a blast to play as the original game.
There are four rounds in the game, with the final round being optional. The same forty cards are used for all of the rounds, so it can really pay off to pay attention to everyone's clues. The first round is giving multiple clues to get your teammate(s) to guess the title on the card. You can use spoken or visual clues to describe the title. The second round, however, is a single word clue in conjunction with visual clues. The third round is charades with noises (no words) and the fourth round is charades without any movement.
I have shared this game with friends and family members. It seems that 6 or 8 is the ideal number, and an even number of players works best. It takes about an hour to complete a game. We have enjoyed this game so much that we have created extra cards to use in play. It is easily expanded by just adding a pack of notecards. A thirty second timer and a scorepad are the only tools used in the game.
The only drawback for this version is pretty minor. The original version includes a description of every name used in the game, while Title Recall does not include any such "answer key."

Quelf Premier Edition Board Game Review

Quelf Premier Edition Board Game
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As my family concluded our first annual Thanksgiving game of Quelf, I surveyed the table. My mother, who turns seventy this year, had a belt tied around her head (to look like a ninja, of course). My father, seventy-four, had a sock coming out of his shirt collar and his shoelaces were tied together. My sister, thirty-nine, was wearing a bike helmet (the card had called for anything with a chinstrap), and her pajama sleeves hung loosely by her sides (another card had informed her that she was now "armless" - we had to roll the die for her after that). Who were these people? I have known them all my life, yet throughout this spirited game I had witnessed surprisingly novel actions: My mother pantomiming that she was wearing flippers and a snorkel while being attacked by a swarm of bees. My father, a physician, delivering a moving eulogy for his fictitious dog "Scooter," who, according to the instructions on the card, had an affinity for coleslaw and delighted in playing with large land mammals. Never had I seen my sister slap herself on the face, turn to me and yell "you must not defy the king!" The four of us agreed that we have never laughed so hard, or so consistently, as we had during that hour of play. I admit, I was skeptical before purchase. After reading some of the reviews and viewing pictures of the box online, it had first seemed as if Quelf was some sort of wacky game that needs a certain setting, mood, or substance related enhancement in order to be fully appreciated. This is not the case. There are elements of the game, such as the trivia and category parts, that help Quelf to maintain its flow and keep the players grounded in authentic board-game style competition...This game sucks you in and then absolutely hammers you with random acts of creativity and humor. Player age, gender, and personality are non-factors. Quelf has an uncanny capacity for drawing out the best (and by "best", I mean the ability to make other people laugh until they nearly soil themselves) in anyone.

Quelf is insanity in a box! With this hilariously silly party game, you will have outrageous fun with your family and friends. Quelf will inspire you to use your creativity, wit and sense of humor in ways you've never imagined. As you move around the game board, as one of eight quirky characters, crazy things start to happen. Your friends start talking strangely. Your mom's face is wrapped in toilet paper. Your dad is acting like Dracula. And you are reciting a poem about your armpits. Each game of Quelf is a new journey into wackiness. When the dust settles and someone crawls away the winner, you realize...you've never had this much fun playing a board game in your life!

This is an updated version of Mattel's classic party favorite. If the topic is Picture Perfect, what images would you select to best fit that description? If you choose a baby and a sunset, while your partner chooses a dollar sign and a computer, well I don't want to say you're incompatible, but... Paging Dr. Phil!Paging Dr. Phil! And if the topic is Your First Real Kiss and you both select a goat and a bowl of fruit, well, people might think you're weird, but at least you're compatible!Seriously, this is a fun party game that will have you laughing out loud and at the same time learning a lot more about your spouse, partner, best friend, or whoever else you're playing with.Players pair up, and each pair will be given a topic, such as Karma, Sport, or Cosmopolitan. Each player will then search through their identical photo decks for cards that they think best fits that topic. They'll rank them from strongest to weakest, and then compare them to the cards that their partner selected.Pairs will earn points for direct matches (identical cards placed in the same order) or indirect matches (identical cards in a different order) and then move forward on the game board accordingly. The first team to reach the center of the board is the winner, and most compatible.Game comes with 6 packs of 50 expression cards, 100 topic cards featuring 600 topics, 6 playing pieces, game board and game instructions. For 3 - 6 players, Ages 12 and Up.
