Gnip Gnop Review

My boys (ages 4 and 5 1/2 got this for Christmas last year. It really is a lot of fun, but the game constantly falls apart with regular play. It ended up being thrown out this spring as the balls were dented and lost and we couldn't deal with snapping it together anymore. Not worth the cost unfortunately.

Ballpark Classics® MLB Baseball Game Fenway Park™ Edition Review

Ballpark Classics® MLB Baseball Game Fenway Park™ Edition

Not only is this a really fun game that everybody in our house enjoys, it is built to scale spitting image of Fenway Park. It's has everything that us fans can relate with: the green monster, the triangle and I can even visualize "the lone red seat" out in right field. The "turf" has identical mowing patterns as the real stadium and also has the logo out in center field and then a really cool shaded pair of sox in the infield. You'll love to look at, but you'll love to play it even more! We have hours invested in ours and plan on using it for years to come.

Ballpark Classics® MLB Baseball Game Review

Ballpark Classics® MLB Baseball Game

Alright.... Here is the detailed run down of my experience with Ballpark Classics.
GREAT INSTRUCTIONS:
Poor instructions often lead to poor reviews. I like to look at the instructions of a product as an extension of manufacturer's customer service. "I need help putting this product together, so please give me something that makes perfect sense so I do not have to ask for help." I do not know what was better, the easy to follow and understand step by step written instructions, or the VERY clear visual pictures. Ballpark Classics met me at my level and made very clear the process of assembly.
EASY ASSEMBLY
I spread out all the neatly organized parts on the floor and began assembly, with the help of my 3 year old. EVERYTHING went together exactly as described.......the first time. My assembly time was just a touch over 20 minutes, but there was a part of me that did not want it to end. It was a fun process and made me feel just little like Ray Kinsella from that ever so famous movie. I got caught up in the moment and looked at my daughter and said, "If you build it, they will come." With a smile on my face and a confused look on hers, we exchanged high fives just like we do every time she finishes a task successfully. Just looking at this ball field was pleasing in itself. It could not get more realistic in design and detail than
what Ballpark Classics has put together.
PLAYS EVEN BETTER THAN IT LOOKS
Keep in mind, my first time playing this game was with my daughter....who is 3. Her first pitch was a strike and so my first swing. What a great game for teaching yourself, and your kids hand/eye coordination. After a little while we both got the hang of it and things got pretty exciting. We managed to hit singles, doubles, and triples in the short game we played. My daughter was given MVP for literally hitting one completely out of the park. Our first ball game together took place right in our living room. Her love for baseball continues to grow!
STORES EASILY
Many times family games like this(foosball, air hockey, rod hockey, pool tables, poker tables, etc.) are a lot of fun to play, but consumers are limited to what they can purchase based on space. During game play the ball field has a pretty good size foot print. What I really love about it is the fact that when all is said and done I can EASILY store away. Anyone could own this game! I choose to have mine sit in plain view in my office so others can admire it as well, but it could be stored under a bed, in a closet, behind the couch, or it would make a great discussion piece out on a coffee table.
Hope you enjoy the game as much as we do!

Sure to thrill even the most diehard baseball fan, Ballpark Classics is the most realistic tabletop baseball game every made. From its turf-like felt playing field to the scoreboard overlooking the diamond, Ballpark Classics goes the extra mile, creating a masterful game that combines timeless baseball strategy with foosball-like action. As any baseball fan will acknowledge, the game starts with pitching: Player one begins by dropping a steel baseball into the pitching pipe, and then squeezes it with his or her thumb or fingers. By changing your finger placement and adjusting the force, you can throw fastballs, curves, changeups, sliders, and even create your own pitches. It's easy to do but challenging to perfect--just like real baseball. Batting, on the other hand, is all about timing, bat speed, and getting inside the pitcher's head. Swing on time and you'll find yourself rounding the bases. Swing over the ball and you'll head back to the dugout. The game is so realistic that you can even get called out on a check swing.
Perhaps the coolest part about Ballpark Classics, however, is the authentic ballpark setting. The body is made of fine, precisely crafted hardwoods, with a nonwoven fabric playing field that looks just like the turf at your favorite ballpark. The scale is just as authentic, with a design that supports the dimensions of your favorite parks (the game comes with a default ballpark, but other MLB ballparks, called Parkpacks, are also available). And the game itself is precision-engineered to use gravity, physics, and friction to create an amazing baseball experience that needs no batteries or electricity. Pitching, hitting, walks, strikeouts, home runs, and situational strategies--it's all there except for the smell of freshly mowed grass.
Playable alone, head to head, or with teams, each Ballpark Classics game takes about 20 minutes for a full nine. Whether you're a baseball purist, a casual fan, or a serious gamer, Ballpark Classics is a terrific choice. The game, which is officially licensed by Major League Baseball, comes with 30-plus MLB mini felt pennants for stadium customization. The game measures 34 by 8 by 30 inches (W x H x D) and requires some assembly.

Crocodile Dentist Review

Crocodile Dentist

We are on our third crocodile dentist! It is a wonderful wonderful toy that my developmentally delayed preschooler and his typical friend all LOVE. But I carry it to the park in a large toy bag and the past two copies have broken...when you press a tooth it won't stay down anymore. A good way around this might be to keep it in a box of it's own.
This is also a wonderful toy for parents following the RDI Steve Gutstein social therapy for children with Autism. Because this toy has an element of surprise, as you press each tooth you never know if this is the tooth that will cause the jaw to snap shut! Note: the snapping shut is fairly gentle and safe for preschoolers!

Toss Across Review

Toss Across

I was eager to play the game I spent hours as a child playing with my own boy, only to find that this inexpensive piece of plastic is not the same game. It is much smaller (both the unit and the beanbags), and extremely light weight. Unlike the game made in the 70s, the rollers have a hard time "rolling" because of their flimsy weight, and the overall size is so small you have to be very close or very accurate to play. I am sure it will get some use, but I doubt this version will attract the followers that the origional did.

I was disappointed to find that the Rockem Sockem robots I remember so well as a kid had magically shrunk down to pint-sized replacements. I would have been completely satisfied if they had retained thier size, which in turn would have made them retain their original greatness. The lesson here boys...if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
