Presto Change-O Review

Perfect for someone practicing money skills! I'm a Special Ed. teacher and bought this game last year for one of my math classes to make learning about money more exciting. This game worked out great! The kids seemed to really enjoy playing and they were reinforcing their money exchange skills at the same time. This game is similar to Monopoly, only each player is expected to make change without going over a set limit of coins that they are allowed. This game is challenging enough to keep interest and fun to play with two or more people.

This game hasn't been in circulation in years and yet when I did get it I wasn't sure if I would enjoy it. I never really played it since I had only seen it advertised on TV maybe once or twice but it peaked my interest. I never found it in the stores. I did find it here as I knew I would and I ordered it for my family. My youngest is in his late teens. We enjoy this game. I would recomend this game to anyone. It teaches so it's educational. So you can use it for teaching patience in little ones and with it's design you learn patience even as a big kid. So as a whole I would recommend this game for the whole family.

is a sweet copy of Double Trouble, the race and chase game of twists and turns by Milton Bradley from 1987. It is complete and you get the following: game board, 2 pop-o-matic dice rollers, 4 detour wheels, 8 arrow playing pieces (2 each of 4 colors) and game instructions. All contents are in good used condition. The box has normal shelf wear and a little rubbing along the top edges, but there are no split corners. This is a great vintage game in perfectly playable condition, you will not be disappointed.

Math Noodlers Grades 2-3 Review

We checked this out at our local library and are now buying it. What's great about this game is that it doesn't just focus on one math skill but touches on most that the 2-3rd graders are learning and keeps the game fun while really pushing them to problem solve and think through the solutions. The questions are very straight-forward and to-the-point. A very easy game to pull out and play in 10-15 mins.

Got this for my 5 and 7 year old and myself. It's easy enough for the kids but challenging enough for adult. We only need to play several beginners game before both of the kids want to play it by themselves. I like the "clue" section at the back of the booklet that shows you which tile to put on first, in case you are stuck. There is also the "solution" if you need to check your answer.

Quads Classic Review

Quads Classic
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Quads Classic is another beautifully rendered game from Gigamic, compassionately brought to the US by Fundex Games.
There are 36 square, wooden tiles, each of which is backed with a magnetic sheet. The board is made of metal and is supported by 4 wooden corner pieces. Printed on the tiles are geometric patterns made of lines and solid shapes. A drawstring bag is included to store tiles between games.
One player gets the tiles with solid shapes, the other gets the rest of the tiles. Two tiles (one with concentric squares and a solid border, the other with regular patterns of right angles and a border of broken lines) are the first tiles played. The game consists of placing tiles so that they are adjacent to at least one other tile. Adjacent tiles must match, making it illegal to place a solid edge next to an edge with an open pattern.
Players alternate turns. The player making the last legal move wins.
Though you can play a game in as little as 10 minutes, it requires deep, very focused strategic thinking. Our Games Tasters kept on likening it to Othello - probably because it is as visually engaging as it is conceptually challenging. As for learning how to play, it takes about as long as it takes to say "whoever makes the last move wins."
There are a couple recommended variations - to add an element of deductive reasoning, players can place their tiles on edge, rather than flat on the table for all to see. To add more challenge, players have to match the patterns on the edges of the board as well.
As a puzzle, it's endlessly fascinating. No matter how you place the tiles on the board, you get wonderfully satisfying, geometric patterns of light and dark. You can increase the challenge as much as you want, trying to make evermore symmetrical, board-spanning patterns. And even if you fail, it still looks good. What more could you ask?
Quads Classic is what you might call "museum quality" - at least as much a work of art as it is an invitation to play. And here's a little extra reassurance: Gigamic will replace lost parts, for FREE, for the first 10 years of ownership!

ABALONE Review

My 8 yr old daughter wanted this game for Christmas after playing it at school. I was skeptical because it doesn't look like much of a game. It is a really great game with a lot of strategical thinking involved and it is fun. I think that this game would be better coming in a tin rather than box. We set the board in the box for playing so I don't know how long that will last until we have to figure something else out. Overall, I would highly recommend this game.

In Abalone, you are literally trying to push your opponent over the edge! You'll face off against your opponent moving one, two, or three marbles at once. The more marbles you have in a column, the more weight you'll have to move a lighter column. You can move them one step in line or one step sideways. Tip a marble over the side-lines to get ahead. As you push the shining line of marbles, tipping your opponent's color over the edge one final time, you know you've won at Abalone!
Abalone has sold over 4,000,000 copies and was the Mensa Select award winner in 1990.

Doubles Wild Review

Doubles Wild

This game plays beautifully and looks great. It's really quite a simple game to learn, you are trying to get 3 or more in a row of your color marbles. You roll the red and blue dice and start at the intersection of the numbers that you rolled (numbers in red and blue are printed along the edges of the board). You can then place your marble into that pocket or take a second roll and adjust the row (red) or column (blue) to manoeuver for a better pocket.
The manufacturer has produced a gorgeous solid wood board with colorful solid glass marbles and even nickel-plated scoring pegs. The game comes with a clear (wow!) lid so you can see the beautiful board and marbles. There are even rules in English and French (why?).
Two caveats: the game is quite heavy, so if you are mailing it as a gift, you might prefer to have toysrus.com mail it directly. Also, there are many small marbles, so if you have very little kids at home keep this away from them.

Click Here to see more reviews about: Doubles Wild

Doubles Wild is a game of luck and strategy where the object is to make as many three-in-a-rows as possible in any direction. Your roll determines where your marker may go. If you don't like your first roll, try again, rolling the blue dice, the red dice, or both. If you roll a double on red or blue, that's Wild, and you may place your marble anywhere in the row or column. If you land on your opponent's marble, you battle for control of the pocket. Play offense to make your own three-in-a-rows, defense to block your opponent.
Doubles Wild takes just five minutes to learn and is fun for 2-4 players. Part of Enginuity's Signature Collection of solid wood and glass board games that look good enough to keep on display. Includes solid wood gameboard, 100 marbles, 4 nickel-plated scoring pegs, 4 dice and instructions.

Kayanak Review

This is a very unusual and engaging game, kids are immediately drawn to the concept of hacking ice and fishing. We have young children (6 & 9) and they stay engaged for ~30-40 minutes, which is great. A game won't usually last that long anyway. The rules are simple and flexible, easy to learn, and allow for variety of choices during play. The game encourages thinking tactically on where best to move, and how to assign your dice roll points (actions are move, hack or fish). But still, the most enjoyable moment is hacking that ice!

Nanook and all his friends are on their way to fish in the pack ice of the Arctic. The journey is arduous: everybody has to ration the action points well! Whoever has some luck with the dice and can organize the action points well can soon hack holes into the ice and try his/her luck at fishing. But watch out! The weather can change and make fishing an arduous task. A tactical dice and fishing game for 2 - 4 players ages 6 yearsandup.

Pegs in the Park Review

Pegs in the Park
Average Reviews:

My son loves to play "Pegs in the Park". The premise is as basic as it gets. Pick a card and move the number of spaces on your path that it says. Be the first to get to the ice cream truck and you win. Everyone is on their own path. The trick is that there are positive and negative numbers so you move forward or backwards. It couldn't be simpler and yet it is exciting when you're very close to winning and get a -10! It's great for number recognition and counting. So simple, but very enjoyable. No branded characters, nothing jumps out at you, just moving forward and backwards on a board.

Pegs in the Park is the perfect game for kids who can't yet read but are ready for some fun competitive gaming. Parents love it because it helps children practice counting, learn the concepts of forward, backward, plus and minus, and develop small motor skills. Players move their lovable pegs around the board, trying to be first to reach the ice cream cart. Cards depict cheerful sights and activities they'd see during a day at the park. Reading is not required to play. For up to 4 players. Includes game board, 44 cards and instructions.

Skeletons in the Closet Game Review

Skeletons in the Closet Game
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Usually I'm really pleased and impressed with the flexibility and educational value of Imaginarium toys, so I expected no less from this game. It claims to have 6 games in one, and it sort of does, but they're all variations on the same idea: memorize the "major" bones of the body: skull, spine, humerous, radius, ulna, hand, foot, pelvis, tibia, fibula, and femur. That's it. I was sorely disappointed that it didn't include other bones, like scapula, coccyx, phalanges, etc.
On the plus side, this limitation of bones meant that even my 4 year old daughter could play the game and learn the names of major bones.
I was willing to go along with this oversight, as the game appeared to have sacrificed bone detail in favor of trivia questions printed on true/false game cards used in one of the game versions. However, after only one game using the cards with 3 people showed us that there are not enough trivia cards in the deck. We ran out of cards before we'd finished the game, and there were so few cards that when we shuffled the deck and kept playing, even my 4 year old daughter could remember the answer to the questions that had been posed earlier. I doubt we'll be playing the game much more, because after 2 days of play, we've already memorized all the bones and the answers to the trivia questions.
The game is educational if you only want your child to know the names of the major skeletal bones and a few trivia facts. It does not have the flexibility or expandability of other Learning Resourcse games, however. I'd recommend a Visible Man or Visible Woman if your child is really interested in anatomy.

Callisto is a lot of fun and rather addicting! It's like playing traditional Tetris but with multiple players; the pressure comes from your friends/competitors instead of from a "sinking" screen, and strategizing is key. The concept behind Callisto is brilliant but simple, and the game is versatile, with different boards for two, three or four players.

Callisto is a seriously satisfying and undeniably simple game to learn but it's a game that uses strategic skills and a little luck to master. The object of the game is to be the player who successfully places the most tiles on the board; tiles must always be placed next to another tile of the same color. While placing your tiles you not only want to cover the most ground so you gain points, but you'll want to block the others from doing so too! Ravensburger FITS - Family Game Review

Ravensburger FITS - Family Game
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Yes, you will think of Tetris when you first play this game, but actually, this game is much better. First, the design of the game is great. The playing pieces, although plastic, are heavy and feel good in the hands, and although the bases are thin plastic, the design is well-thought-out so that the board can change as the game progresses, and the pieces can slide down easily over the different game boards. I did not put five stars for durability because if the base was stepped on, it would squash (it would be better in wood), but the box is sturdy, so as long as you put it away carefully, I envision the game lasting a long time.
This game differs from Tetris in that (1) there are no time constraints (I am not a fan of games that reward the speediest participant). The next card is not drawn until everyone has placed their piece on their board. (2) You cannot slide the pieces sideways to fill in holes which makes it more challenging. (3) The pieces vary in the number of blocks that make them up (not all are composed of four squares). Since each player starts with a different piece, no one really has an advantage, but the round will play substantially differently for each player.
Some of the things I especially like about this game are:
1. It can be played equally well with 2 - 4 players.
2. It only takes 30 - 45 minutes.
3. It takes some strategizing and planning ahead but isn't too taxing so you can play to relax.
4. I love the four different boards used in the different rounds of play. Each board has a different set of markings so that the strategy of the game changes with each round. You have to figure out whether you would do better to leave certain squares exposed or covered depending on the positive or negative point value of the square...a bit like scrabble. And then, near the end of the round, you will know exactly which pieces you have left to play which again will cause you to adjust your strategy. So although you may only play the game for 30 minutes, the game keeps changing so that it feels like you've played many games in a short time.
We played this game at "ladies game night" with a group of four middle-aged science/math teachers, and we had a ball!

Can you skillfully fill in your playing board so that all the differently shaped tiles fit perfectly without leaving any spaces?! If a piece doesn't fit precisely, slot it in the best you can because the game's not over yet. The next tile may fit better than the last and make you the winner! FITS is a lot of fast-paced fun with just a few easy rules for non-stop entertainment!

Blokus Classics Game Review

Blokus Classics Game
Average Reviews:

I originally bought this game for my classroom to help my students develop thinking skills. When it first arrived, I took the game home to figure out how to play it before introducing it to my students--and I was hooked! My own children are ages 10 and 11 and they love the game (we are buying a game for home), but I teach students up to age 18 and they enjoy the game just as much. Educationally, it helps younger students develop a better understanding of spatial relations and planning ahead. For older students (and adults) it helps to develop various strategy skills.
Unlike most educational games, the rules are simple and once you've played it through one time (or watched it through one time) all your effort can go into plotting your moves. The game doesn't run out of possibilities, either; every game is different, even if you play with the same people over and over.
As an educator, parent, and game enthusiast, this was money well spent.

Fun for both kids and adults, Blokus is a strategy board game that challenges spatial thinking. Bright colors and simple rules make it ideal for ages five and up, but adults will certainly be engrossed by this unique and challenging game. Not Your Average Board Game Blokus encourages creative thinking and has received a Mensa award for promoting healthy brain activity. The goal of this game is for players to fit all of their pieces onto the board. When placing a piece it may not lie adjacent to the player's other pieces, but must be placed touching at least one corner of their pieces already on the board. The player who gets rid of all of their tiles first is the winner and strategic thinking helps as you block moves from your opponent. Blokus sometimes comes to an end because there are no more possible moves. Four players make this abstract game especially fast and exciting; however, it can be just as fun for two or three players. Blokus has come up with a number of different ways to play the game to make it more thrilling when playing with less than four players. Draft Blokus allows a player to use more than one color and Reverse Blokus reverses the entire game so that the person who places the least amount of tiles on the board is the winner. It can even be played in a solitaire version when one player attempts to place all of their pieces in a single sitting. A game of Blokus typically lasts a 30 minutes. As a practical feature, raised edges on the board help keep the tiles in place and allow convenient clean-up. This game includes 84 pieces in four vibrant colors, an instruction guide, and one gameboard with 400 squares.Blokus is simple to understand, but the game's complexity is revealed shortly after everyone begins to play. It can be addictive, even for those not normally into abstract games. Blokus is a catalyst for spatial thinking, as players form images in their mind before placing the pieces on the board. Children and adults can play together for hours of competitive family fun. As Europe's 2003 Game of the Year, Blokus is adored by many and even played in professional tournaments. What's in the Box 84 pieces in four colors, gameboard with 400 squares, and an instruction guide.
