Peaceable Kingdom Press Numberscolors Shapes Gift Book Review

This is a fun book but has some flaws - it is really really small for the price. More important, as another reviewer noted the publisher / artist has not given much thought to colors and colored some animals way off. This makes the bk hard to use beyond a point. For instance, I can first teach my child numbers but then I want to move beyond and get good use of the book by using it to teach colors etc. and I can't because elephants are not green...

Boggle Jr. Game Review

Boggle Jr. Game

I have a 4 and 6-year-old, both of whom would rather play with playmobile and legos any day over reading a book or doing anything "educational" so following the directions on here wasn't good for us because my 6-year-old son is very competitive and has difficulty being happy just to learn for the sake of learning. SO... After a discussion about being good at Spelling-B contests, he got into it! It's pretty much a one-child-to-one-adult kind of game. My 6-year-old now looks at the cards and calls out name of the picture, spells the word, and then calls out the name again. Then we have a "contest" (NOT a quiz) of him against himself... How many cards can he get right. My 4-year-old is getting into it, as he verifies the word by flipping the flap that exposes the word and naming each letter to see if my 6-year-old got it right. Now... if only I can find more cards! That's what I'm online to do now. It has been a GREAT visual teaching aid. Enjoy...

Sneaky Snakes - A Color and Shape Pattern Game Review

Sneaky Snakes - A Color and Shape Pattern Game

This was a perfect Christmas day gift for my 5 1/2 year old nephew. Understanding how to play was a quick read for the adults and explaining the concepts to the children was straightforward, so they could start to play soon after opening the game. The game itself, though, is challenging and my nephew and his sister (and his mother!) enjoyed the thought process behind the game. Also, kids seem to like snakes -- a related, and excellent, game for children this age is "HISS" by Gamewright, which I also found at Amazon.

We decided on this book over the other versions (Fisher Price & VTech) because of it's simplisty & it didn't come with "number & letters" lessons. We have all those toys we could ever need! We love that this book! It reads a story or sings a song about a night time routine. It also goes with the Tag Jr. Buddy Pal reader when they are ready! Makes me so happy!
