221 B Baker St. The Master Detective Game Sherlock Holmes - The Time Machine Review

My dad bought this game when my sister and I were finishing up middle school. I absolutely loved it. The premise is that Sherlock Holmes traveled through time to solve famous unsolved crimes. Each time you play you focus on a separate famous crime. If recall correctly it includes Sacco & Vanzetti, DB Cooper, the zodiac killer, the Black Dahlia, the Lindbergh baby kidnapping and Marilyn's much debated death among others. As you play the game you uncover clues to help you solve the crimes. The crimes are described pretty historically, which makes for a fun history lesson, though some of the made up solutions are a bit ridiculous.
Because of the nature of the game and the patience it requires this game is not suitable for kids under 12, and some may think that is too young. The game also has a built in number of plays since it only comes with so many crimes to solve. However each game played is a commitment so it tends to be something you just play when you're up for the commitment. For the record it is less of a commitment than Risk or Monopoly, but we didn't run out of crimes to solve before I went off to college.

You can read my review for the other 221B Baker Street game. My family loves the play. We haven't played this one as much. The play is the same as the other game but with a different board layout. One of the mysteries so far was a bit too gruesome for me to want to play with my young teens, but otherwise we love this game too. Have fun!

I always wished that Clue had actual clues for you to solve!! I always thought Clue was pretty boring and there wasn't much thought involved. This game is awesome! The only thing is that it is pretty outdated, so if you were born in the past 20 years or so, there's a good chance that you won't figure out many of the clues and references. Of course if you pay attention to history and pop culture throughout time, then you may not have a problem. Either way, you still may be able to figure the clues out. The setup is similar to Clue, but there is trivia to solve. You race around the board visiting different places to pick up clues, piece them together and solve the questions before the rest of the players. I find it quite amusing. There are also some twists and turns involved, such as the trivia barrel where you can essentially imprison other players for a few turns. I just wish they had a more recent version as well as this one. Oh well, I recommend it regardless.

Hey, listen up! If you like trivia games and you like detective games, then Trivial Detective is the game for you. The questions in this game are harder than the questions in most trivia games; but in this game you can travel around the board picking up clues to help you figure out the answers. Many of the clues are also in the form of triva questions; so the more trivia you kow, the easier it will be for you to interpret the clues and win the game. You'll find clues at twleve locations around the board, including the Library, City Hall, Movie Theater, Sorts Arena, Radio & TV Station, Art Museum, Museum of Natural Science, and the Geographical & History Society

I bought this game as a Christmas present for my partner because she had fond memories of it from when she played it years ago. There are several versions of it on Amazon that cost so much! I don't know what those have that this one doesn't; it seems pretty basic. We took it with us in the car for our holiday road trips and had a great time. Also, it's great for us to use these questions to replace the "sports & leisure" questions in a game of Trivial Pursuit since niether of us are big sports fans. Also great to get children to practice lateral thinking.

I am a Clue fanatic... and this game is just as good or better!! Fun, individual mysteries for you to solve by visiting places on the game board and using your common sense. My boyfriend hates these types of games because he's not very good at them.... but even HE enjoyed this game and stood a chance at winning. Great game even for just 2 people.
