My son, who is an early reader, could play this at an earlier age than that recommended on the box. When only three of us want to play, we use a stuffed animal for the fourth player; the children think it's a riot to see the answers the animal "gives." (We select a card from the animal's five choices without looking at it, and the children think it's so funny when, for example, the animal chooses "cotton candy" as something that is scary. This game is one of those games that is both educational and REALLY fun to play. I HIGHLY recommend that you buy this game. We have all three versions! (There are two children's versions - one for younger and one for older children, and an adult's version.)
