Ultra Pro Tough Tournament Case Review

Ultra Pro Tough Tournament Case

regardless of what you may hear, this case has a very very thin layer of steel surrounding its exterior. the hinges are in fact very strong, i have dropped mine quite a few times and it never opened up on me to spill all my cards out. It is currently holding 2 of my favorite decks (each is about 60-70 cards in sleeves)
overall i see no problems with this item. must have for card collectors/players!

This game was enjoyed by kids of various ages. The 3 yr old could play along with the 9 and 10 yr old. There are not many games that they can play together.

Playchest Penguin Plunge Review

Playchest Penguin Plunge

Penguin Plunge was a definite hit with our family! My husband and I played with our 4.5 & 6 yr old daughters (since only 4 can play at a time), the instructions were a little hard to keep up for our kids since it's a two part/type game, but once we got through the instructions and played one game, it was easy and a lot of fun!
First, you have the 4 big-main penguins, each with a different color hat. Purple, Red, Green, Yellow. You start on the 4 corners of the board in your color designated igloo. You first start with rolling the movement dice which says how spaces you can go and one panal is a "roll the action dice" panel. You then use the movement dice to work towards your 3 little penguins that have th same colored hat as yours, that are scattered between the 4 ponds across the board, picking them up in order 1-2-3 as numbered on their hats. When you have collected all 3 on top of your hat, you quickly make your way back to your colored/starting igloo to win!
The action dice is the second part of the game, which entails taking a penguin of whatever color you roll and putting it in the ice tower, whether its your own color or someone elses, where it is held capitve till someone rolls or lands on a "release the penguins" panel and the penguins are sent down through the ice tower and into the lake. The person who then released them, gets to sort them into whichever ponds they want and players can resume trying to collect all their penguins so they can return to their igloos to win!
The board is sturdy cardboard/plastic and the ice tower and pieces are all nice, not flimsy at all, with good coloring. I think my husband and I had just as much fun as the kids playing this. It was a literal race to beat the other person in collecting our penguins and returning to our igloo with them being put in and released from the ice tower! A definite crowd pleaser for the kids and parents alike!

To win this Arctic-adventure game, kids will want to be the first one to collect all three of their penguin friends, in order, and race back to their home igloo. Players simply fill the ice tower with penguins, push down the lever, and let them plunge! Stack 'em, splash 'em and herd 'em home! But it's not always easy -- all the penguins want to do is play and slide down the ice tower into the pond. Penguin Plunge is a fun experience for the whole family with great developmental benefits like sequencing and planning. For two to four players.

My son likes playing this game...but not by the instructions per say...he always gets lost in the middle of remembering movie scenes and ends up making up his own movie! It brings back the memeories of the movie...so I give it a thumb's up.

iPlay Pop N Drop Penguins Game Review

This game is almost exactly like Trouble. If you already own that game, I would not recommended buying this game for the small twist: If a penguin lands on the end of a bridge, the player slides a lever and penguins on the top of the bridge fall into the "water" below, going back to their starting places.
There are 3 faults (1 major and 2 minor) with the game design:
(1) major - the penguins don't stay in their holes very well. It is very easy to knock the penguins out when you're reaching to pop the die, moving your pieces around, or just accidentally jostling the board a bit. On top of the bridges, the holes are especially too big and the penguins simply lean over. Some of the (unintentional) fun of the game comes from laughing at how many times you've accidentally knocked over someone's penguins.
(2) minor - the bubble with the die inside is not as effective as the one in Trouble. About a dozen times during our last game, the die got stuck between faces or didn't seem to bounce at all. Also note that the number two on the die is shown with 2 in-line pips (I think they're called) and not 2 diagonal ones like most dice.
(3) minor - the starting locations and ending locations are not color coded at all. Younger players may have difficulty remembering their home area or knowing the area they're supposed to finish at.
If you don't have Trouble, you might go with this, but having both, I can tell you that Trouble feels more substantially built.

This classic "race and chase" game is fun for the whole family! Pop the dice and move your colored penguins around the "icy" game board. If you manage to get them "home" first you win. Bit, if they fall off the icy bridges, you'll have to start all over again! Contents: Game board with popping die, 4 ice bridges, 16 colored penguins,Game rules. For 2-4 players.

Mayfair Games Hey That's My Fish Deluxe Review

Mayfair Games Hey That's My Fish Deluxe

This is a game that is incredibly simple to learn. Basically, there are tiles (ice) that the penguins stand on. The penguins are placed on the tiles one at a time as folks take turns placing their penguins. The penguin must stand on a tile that has only one fish on it (for the first turn). Each player has multiple penguins (a different amount of penguins depending on the # of players) The penguin can move straight ahead as far as it wishes but can not hop over other penguins. As soon as a penguin is moved, the last tile it was standing on is collected by the owner of the penguin. Each of these tiles have anywhere from one to three fishes on it. At the end of the game, the number of fish are counted up on the tiles, and the person with the most fish wins. As the penguins are moved, each player tries to isolate the other players from the tiles by taking away tiles around them. The players also try to land on tiles with the most fish on them. The game changes each time because the tiles are randomly laid out in the general shape of a square, so the placement of the tiles with the most fish changes each game. That's pretty much it. It's simple enough for my 6 year old niece to learn and enjoy, and has enough strategy that my 9 year old niece loves it too. A simple game with strategy. Good fun!
I got the deluxe edition, which comes with the nicer penguins, and was glad I did. They are colorful and very well constructed. Definitely worth the extra money.
