My husband and I played with our 4.5 & 6 yr old daughters (since only 4 can play at a time), the instructions were a little hard to keep up for our kids since it's a two part/type game, but once we got through the instructions and played one game, it was easy and a lot of fun!
First, you have the 4 big-main penguins, each with a different color hat. Purple, Red, Green, Yellow. You start on the 4 corners of the board in your color designated igloo. You first start with rolling the movement dice which says how spaces you can go and one panal is a "roll the action dice" panel. You then use the movement dice to work towards your 3 little penguins that have th same colored hat as yours, that are scattered between the 4 ponds across the board, picking them up in order 1-2-3 as numbered on their hats. When you have collected all 3 on top of your hat, you quickly make your way back to your colored/starting igloo to win!
The action dice is the second part of the game, which entails taking a penguin of whatever color you roll and putting it in the ice tower, whether its your own color or someone elses, where it is held capitve till someone rolls or lands on a "release the penguins" panel and the penguins are sent down through the ice tower and into the lake. The person who then released them, gets to sort them into whichever ponds they want and players can resume trying to collect all their penguins so they can return to their igloos to win!
The board is sturdy cardboard/plastic and the ice tower and pieces are all nice, not flimsy at all, with good coloring. I think my husband and I had just as much fun as the kids playing this. It was a literal race to beat the other person in collecting our penguins and returning to our igloo with them being put in and released from the ice tower! A definite crowd pleaser for the kids and parents alike!

To win this Arctic-adventure game, kids will want to be the first one to collect all three of their penguin friends, in order, and race back to their home igloo. Players simply fill the ice tower with penguins, push down the lever, and let them plunge! Stack 'em, splash 'em and herd 'em home! But it's not always easy -- all the penguins want to do is play and slide down the ice tower into the pond. Penguin Plunge is a fun experience for the whole family with great developmental benefits like sequencing and planning. For two to four players.
