(More customer reviews)This is a great game for the specified age range of 4+. My four year old got this game from "Santa" at a Christmas party. We took it home and played it. Granted it is not educational at all but he LOVED it!! The monster is adorable and the game pieces that go under the bed are a decent size so they do get lost as easily as some other game pieces. There is absolutely NO reading required, only matching pieces to a game board. The winner has to get three in a row like bingo or tic-tac-toe. My seven year old will also play the game with him and it is fun for her as well because you never know when the monster will pop out. If you are looking for a fun, easy board game for a four year old that keeps their interest(which is hard to find)I highly recommend buying this game.

The moment the box came he tore it open and was very pleased with the board.
Its like a thin magnetic plate with just like the picture shows and the darts the came with it are perfect. They're not flimsy at all. He and the others started to throw the dart from about 15 feet away and the darts landed perfectly and did not slide down (like I worried it would). Wherever it lands it stays and I see this as a very durable toy that will last quite some time. :)

You try to eliminate your hand of cards by playing a card and pumping Gus's head on the numbered "food", each pump inflating his stomach. The ingeious contraption inside allows his stomach to expand at a seemingly random count before he "explodes" a fart, causing the current player to draw 2 more cards. Sometimes he blows on 8 pumps, sometimes he makes it all the way to 20! I played this game with my neice and with my adult friends and we all found ourselves trying to gently press down on Gus's head so as not to make him fart, or quickly filling his stomach on our turn, setting up the next player for a sure-fire explosion! Lots of fun for kids and adults.

(More customer reviews)Clue DVD is only for people who love Clue. (If you are just a moderate fan, it might be more than you want.) Instead of just figuring out 3 things as in regular Clue, you have to figure out 4. And there are 10 possibilities under each of the 4 categories. Plus some of the clues only become available as the game moves along. (But there are extra clues given by the Inspector and the Butler.) So it is much more involved!
As a previous reviewer says, the instructions are not as clear as they could be. On the basic menu that comes up for each player's turn, it is confusing what you are supposed to do. You can either move to the next room, or use a secret passage. If you just move to an adjacent room, then you don't use your remote on the DVD menu. You only press the remote if you use a secret passage. Then when you get to a room by either of those two means, you also have to make a choice. If you are making a suggestion about who, where, when, or what, then you don't use the remote. But if you summon the butler, look at the inspector's notebook, or want to see an item card, then you use the remote. Tricky? Yes, but it is not too difficult to catch on to.
Once we got used to the game, it took us about an hour to finish a mystery. We have thoroughly enjoyed it. Regular Clue seems tame by comparison.

(More customer reviews)I used to play this game with my brother when we were 8-12. Its one of the few strategy games I could beat him at. Creative thinking can be rewarding or it can backfire! The key to the excitement of this game is that each player arranges their own "men" (soldiers, in varying ranks up to Field Marshal) their flag, their "spy"-the only piece that can conquer the opponents marshal, their "landmine" bombs, and miners (who can defuse opponents bombs). As you play you begin to see what arrangements are safest to protect your flag, and allow you to trick the opponent into stepping on your "landmines" while not trapping your own soldiers as you will need them to go out "into battle" as each is needed. The game is suspenseful, as in almost every move, you are engaging an unknown enemy. Will it be a lowly Corporal you conquer, or a General who captures your soldier? Or, even worse, a bomb that kills your soldier, and requires you to bring one of your Miners forth to defuse it? I recently bought this for my 11 y.o. niece (who is too good at chess for me) after one game she quickly caught on to the strategy essentials; now we have very close matches. I was surprised at how much my 6 year old nephew understood the strategy, and how eager he was to play the game.
We made up a modified version to play a shorter game, using a limited number of pieces (2 or 3 of each rank), and he is learning to play well. I highly recommend this game as one that children can play against adults and hold their own. Each game is different because of the variations caused by the placement of the soldiers. This is a "prettier" version than the one I played with as a kid. As long as the colorful stickers last, I assume it will be just as durable. This game is not for kids that get frustrated easily, because, as in chess, each player will lose many battles, and will need to sacrifice pieces to win the game. This game teaches strategic thinking, and like chess forces you to plan several moves ahead. Stratego is a very entertaining way to practice logic, memory and planning!

(More customer reviews)In college my roomate and I always wanted to put Family Guy trivia together. We watched far too much and the questions we asked each other were too difficult to almost anyone. This game finally came out so I got it, was surprised that the questions had a decent range in difficulty. My only complaint is that there are not incredibly hard questions, and not nearly enough cards. Hopefully a booster pack will come out with a decent size pack of cards. I think this game works for those that watch the show every now and then, to those that own all the DVDs and watch them on a fairly regular basis. If you can quote most episodes line to line, this game will be far too easy, so play people for money.

Beyond Balderdash Review

Expanding on the original concept of Balderdash (where players create phony dictionary definitions of obscure words and try to pick the correct one), this game adds new categories like dates, people, initials, and movie plots. The variety helps make the game even more fun, and keeps it from getting stale.
One of my favorite things about this game is that it continually surprises us how good our made-up answers are! You would think that you could guess pretty easily which answers were true and which were false, but it's not always that easy. We're not all creative geniuses either. We run the gamut from a college professor, to a high school student, to a nine-year child. Just about anyone can play this game and have a great time. (My only complaint is that you run out of answer slips too fast; you can just use plain paper, though.)

We were disappointed in the following: Ned's head is polyester stretched over a flimsy metal frame. The fiber filling comes out through the shoddy seamwork. The items one is supposed to "find" in Ned's head are beyond cheap: the disgustingly cool looking cotton swab completely fell apart with the first round of the game; the plastic screw is hollow and came crushed; "the vomit doesn't even have any brown chunks in it!", exclaimed my daughter.
All in all, we were completely disappointed in this game as the potential was definitely there. Play it once and stash it or convert it into a mask for next Halloween's trick or treating!

Usaopoly Family Guy Operation Review

(More customer reviews)Operation has been around since 1965. I was born soon after, which means I remember the game as popular many years after it's debut. Toys and games are certainly not the same, and the quality is far from anything we remember. It is sad to see what kids get to play with these days. But, this version is not for kids, as the TV show is not for kids.
I am avid Family Guy fan from the beginning, even before it was canceled. I don't collect a lot of Family Guy things, but have all the DVDs etc. But I thought Peter as the patient of Operation seemed very funny, and the fact that it was more than a "bzzzzt". Sure his red nose lights up if you touch the sides, just like the original, but you are treated to a new phrase or sound effect in Peter's voice. Whether he screams or farts, my favorite response is the classic ongoing "sssssssss ahhhhhhhh sssssssss ahhhhhhh sssssss ahhhhhh" which is typically what he says when he randomly falls and hurts his knee, and continues to say it for a few beats too long. A routine on the show that always has me in stitches.
The game quality itself is questionable. It's flimsy blue plastic, warped metal and a cardboard layer. The instrument either fits loosely on it's holder, or gets stuck to the point of the plastic piece holding it breaking someday soon. Then there are the really poorly made pieces you are to remove from the body. The money and cards are fine. There is no holder for the loose items, so I have stored them in a zip-lock bag since nothing it provided. Taking two AA batteries (not included) in the back with a screw on cover features no on off switch, it's just always on. The original has a switch, and a drawer for the pieces.
So, this is a novelty item. A game made by Usaopoly, not Milton Bradley, and it shows. You are paying for the fun of having a licensed Family Guy product in a familiar but altered format. It seems like I have cut this down quite a bit, but your expectations will be exceeded if you expect the worst. A fan of Family Guy, like myself, would be thrilled to get this as a gift, and a perfect gift it is. I almost missed it's existence, so, you are likely to surprise the fellow fan with it. Plus, even if they have it, they will most likely need a backup if they intend to actually use it.

(More customer reviews)This game is similar in style and play to other board games like Malarky and Balderdash. However, I would recommend Wise and Otherwise over either of those games. In Balderdash, players come up with meanings to words 99% of the population has never heard of, and try to convince other players that their definition is correct. In Malarky, players answer questions that 99% of the population would never ask. In Malarky, I found that many people came up with very similar answers which took some fun out of the game. In Wise and Otherwise, players have to finish foreign sayings that rarely make sense. One example: If you take a squirrel out of water.... The real answer is, "he will devise a plot against you". Every player would have written down an ending to the statement and handed it to the reader, who would then read everyone's aloud as well as the correct answer. Players vote for what they think is the correct answer and hope that others will vote for theirs. As you receive points you move your pawn up the board and the first to the end wins. Creative people will really enjoy this game because many times the correct ending to the statement is extremely goofy. The whole spirit of the game is light-hearted and the losers have just as much fun as the winner. (By the way, I won today!!) For fun I gave the game five stars, because everyone really gets into the game and enjoys themselves even if they're in last place the whole time. For education I also gave it five stars because listening to these odd sayings gives people an idea of what foreign cultures are like. This game is also very durable due to the sheer number of sayings and the fact that nobody could memorize all of them.

(More customer reviews)I got this game for my daughter (age 21) for Christmas. She's a H-U-G-E BTTF fan. I have to say, this seemed incredibly complicated while reading the directions. However, after a practice hand, we quickly caught on. You do not "have" to know the movies to play the game, but it certainly makes it more fun. We played several hands, most lasting satisfying not-too-short, not-too-long timeframes. One game did take a long time, which was still fine. We played with 3 players. I would think that 3 or 4 would be best, because the fewer players, the less crossover in the timelines, which is what creates a bit of havoc, i.e., fun. Great game - well done.

Though I enjoyed the actual game play, I would have liked to see more movie quotes from this games. I would also like to see a deluxe version.
