(More customer reviews)Over the years, I have played this game countless times, and each time it's been a blast. Build towns to collect resources when that number is drawn. Use those resources to build more towns or draw special cards. My favorite part of this game is resource trading among players. It's common to hear things like "I'll give you two wheat for a sheep", and it sometimes escalates into a full blown bidding war among players.
The best part about this game is that it's random every time. The board is randomly placed and that makes people's strategies change every time they play. I highly recommend this game to anyone.

This is a strategy game similar to chess. The board is layed out like a chess board and each player sets up their men just like in chess. Unlike chess, the board for All the King's Men has various types of arrows printed on each square of the "chess" board. Movement is determined by the direction of the arrow or arrows in the square. The pieces are similar to chess in that the Brain is like a king in chess, Ninny's are like pawns, and Numskull's are like rooks or bishops. This is a fun game that is much simpler than chess at first glance. However, the game will vary in difficulty depending on the skill of the opponent. The goal is to capture your opponent's Brain. The fact that both players can "see" all possible moves to and from a square can make the game harder than you'd think! A fun game!

(More customer reviews)I was looking for a game that would challenge my wife and I in garnering facts about other countries in the world while catering to our board game playing enjoyment. We are college grads and reasonably intelligent, and wanted to learn more about our world while avoiding the large number of games for ages "10 and over". That can be a challenging task for a game designer in this genre, but there are more than enough children's games out there. However, this game was a good first attempt at satisfying this premise. Okay, about the game itself- There are plenty of facts, and they range from difficult to know to extremely difficult. Which is good. However, the means of obtaining the required advancement opportunities on the board were made relatively easy, and we found that the game ended rather quickly. And we felt inadequately challenged insofar as making the game last very long on the board. So we resorted to just pulling cards and reading each other questions from them, without using the game board at all. That loses it's excitement rather quickly. I believe the model can be improved upon with a little more thought to the interaction with the board, but would still recommend this game for people looking for a challenging source of overall worldly trivia. We look forward to the sequel.

This unique game is a lot of fun. It's kind of like a geography version of Trivial Pursuit, so prepare to have your knowledge challenged. It is for ages 13+, but I found I could play it with my 7 year old son and he enjoyed it, as long as he got some "hints" for the right answers. In Travel Mania, players travel around the board and must collect five visas and passport stampsone from each of five continent groupsto win the game. The passport stamps are earned by landing on spaces labeled with different country names, while the visas are given when answering trivia questions correctly.

(More customer reviews)I didn't realize when getting this that I needed the 5-6 player expansion, and the cities and knights expansion before I could use it. I thought you could directly expand it on the original, but that can't be done. I have no doubt it will be fun, but keep in mind that you need the 5-6player expansion and the cities and knights expansion before you could use this item.

We only had the basic game for a long time, but we finally bit the bullet and bought seafarers, and are so glad that we did. Seafarers adds boats (which tend to make sheep more valuable as opposed to practically worthless in the basic game). We love having more variety of games, and play all the scenarios. Buy it, having more things to explore is a great deal of fun.

The Settlers of Catan 5-6 Player Extension Review

1) Additional land and ocean tiles that increase the size of the island of Catan from 19 land tiles in the 3-4 player game to 30 land tiles [surrounded by water tiles] for the 5-6 player version.
2) A complete set of 30 numbered discs that matches the new, larger island.
3) More cards of each type of resource needed to accommodate more players
4) An addendum set of rules for 5-6 playes that introduces interesting new options for building not included in the 3-4 player game.
Oh, you probably know this, but you should be aware that the 5-6 player expansion is not a stand-alone game, you need the 3-4 player game in order to use this expansion.
OK, why buy the expansion? It, of course, allows up to two more players to join in. Also, the rules addendum includes an interesting twist... between-turn bulding. Because 5 or 6 players means longer times between an individual's turn, the between-turn "open building" arrangement allows players to build or buy things with the cards they hold in their hands (no trading with the bank or other players between turns though!). That not only allows players to get farther ahead when it's not their turn, it also allows them to use their cards so that they are less susceptible to "robber's" 7-card in-hand maximum limit if a 7 is rolled. Plus, 5-6 players in the game provides more player-to-player trade options, etc.
All in all an excellent addition to an outstanding game. It's fun, it's durable, it's interactive, and some say, "addictive."
