We had used our old game for five years, and the cards were beginning to get pretty grimy. Now we have clean fresh ones. 'Nuff said.

(More customer reviews)I had my original one sided mat for over 15 years. They last that long. I accidentally used some permanent markers on it and ruined it this last year. I thought they were washable. Caution: these mats are only good for WET-erase markers only. Dry erase will damage them. Use wet erase or some crayola washable markers if you can't find the other. Use only water and tissues as over time the grid will rub off. Otherwise if you take good care of your mat like I did prior to my mishap, you will have it for a long time.
