Lexigo is what you get when you combine Scrabble with Boggle. The point is to get rid of your letter bank by creating words. Words are created by placing the hexagonal tiles together, making sure at least two sides are touching an already played tile. Letters can be used more than once for your word, and as long as the letters touch on at least one of their eight sides, it counts. The last letter of the word you play is the letter you use to start your next word. This forces players to thing well ahead of the current turn. Who wants to start their next word with a K? No one, unless you already have a plan made out. You can pick up your marker and start on a new letter, but every such action comes with penalties that seem small at first but can quickly snowball. Bumping players from their current position adds to the competition.
Games can last from ten minutes to thirty minutes depending on your luck and keen eye for creating words. There are times were words seemed to just flow from nowhere, but there were other times were it felt that every move spelled me into a corner. You are not scored for how complicated the word is (like in Scrabble), but instead on how many letters you can take from your own bank. The word "river" can easily beat out the word "xenomorphic" depending on the letters in front of you.
I could easily see this as a great game for teaching logic and reasoning to younger players. This game can be as competitive or as easy-going as the players decide. The tiles are large and durable, although the bag they are stored in is not that great for shaking them up in. It's more like massaging a bag of sand than shuffling game pieces. The bag is very well made though. Everything about the game is solid and stout. Even the box is thick and sturdy, a fact that almost everyone I know who played this has mentioned.
Overall, this is a great game for keeping the brain going, or for developing logic skills.
