The "Biblephobia" seems to take over and as such many do not experience the richness that has been given to us by our Creator. Chapter and Verse, in a thoughtful and interesting format, helps to break down that barrier and does so in fun and fascinating method. In a world where everyone seems to be so caught up in the concern as to who wrote the Bible, it is nice to see someone take leadership and initiative by focusing their emphasis on who reads the Bible. I found it to be helpful when playing with youth, in that it engages conversation regarding the Scripture.

This game really got us to study our bible because we didn't want to answer incorrectly and we wanted to be "bible masters." I learned a lot about the bible just by playing this game. When I saw the Bible edition I thought it's fabulous and has added educational value. But it ends up very disappointing. The clapper is defective - cards won't drop except the first slot. Although it looks very much like the original Guesstures but the hardware is poorly done.

The only interesting part was when you landed on certain squares where you got to either tell the truth or lie and everyone else had to guess what you were doing. Unluckly we only landed on those once or twice in the whole game. Overall I was not impressed with this game.

Veggietales Don't Sink in the Sink Review

You play it in it's own very sturdy box and the black grid can be turned 4 different ways thereby varying the slots that "sink" you just enough to keep the kids on their toes. I even found it hard to remember where the losing slots were. I had a great time playing it with my 4 and 7 year olds. It's a nice family game that doesn't take too long to play - maybe 15 minutes or so. Make sure you play it twice in a row to experience the cleverness of the black grid. There are no small pieces and the life preserver was a cute twist.

(More customer reviews)We had a great time playing this game at a Christmas family get together. We divided our large group into two teams... kids against adults. The game was face paced, created lots of conversation, and was just so much fun to play! It was nice to have a game that the whole group could participate in. The kids gained a lot of confidence as they were just as capable as the adults answering the questions. One of the best things about this game is that you do not have to be a Bible wizard to play. We had such a variety in our group, but we all had fun! Many of the questions are about everyday words that are taken from the Bible. So the game does not make people who are unfamiliar with the bible uncomfortable. This also makes it compatable for different ages as well. Each question does have a Bible reference so you can see how the word was used in the Bible if you would like. The directions include variations in play and also state that ten percent of the royalies collected from the sale of the game go to support Christian ministries in the United States.

The Bible DVD Game Review

(More customer reviews)The novelty of this game is that it is a DVD game. The game is slow paced and most questions are easy even for my 13 year old playing on the hardest level. I cannot see how the easiest level is considered that as most questions asked in this level refer to filling in the blanks on a Bible verse and there is just as likely to be a tricky question even I as an adult can't answer. On the plus side, the kids do ask to play it and it has us sharing together our common faith. Note: this game does not play on every DVD player if you are outside the USA.

The game engages them in the process and the cards provide useful questions to help them explore a variety of topics. I bought all the additional sets of cards available and have found the Teen-Adult set to be the most enjoyable. In addition, the questions are not so "therapeutic" that it would exclude families from playing. The Self-Esteem card deck would be a good conversation starter for talking with your children. I highly recommend this product.

(More customer reviews)My family just played this game, and it was so much fun! My two year old enjoyed holding the timer, while the rest of the family enjoyed recalling biblical facts. It is really a game for the ENTIRE family. I may even purchase one for the Sunday school children that I teach, since it is such a great way to learn. My 9 yr old kept the bible by her so that she could look up answers while she played along. She has already asked to play again tonight.......... My 22 year old wouldn't answer his cell phone while playing. (That's how much fun this game is!) I would highly recommend it. My teens anxiously and willingly played along with big smiles! This is a great gift for birthdays, housewarmings, etc.... Hope this review helped you make a decision to purchase this wonderful gift for a friend or loved one. Every home should have one.

(More customer reviews)The object is fairly easy, you have to be the first person to build your church!
As in Monopoly, the properties are colored and you must own all of that particular color if you want to build on it.
To build your church, you pay for your cornerstone and then add 3 bricks on top of it. It's pretty expensive and money is pretty hard to come by! And then, you could land on a spot that tells you your church site was flooded...and a brick washed away, in which case, you have to pay for a new one.
But if you succeed in completing your church, you pay a little extra money, and then put your playing piece, which is shaped like a steeple on top of your "church" bricks.
Over-all, this game is pretty fun, but very educational into Christian things as well. The properties are actually names of New Testament- era cities, in order to earn money, you do things like recite common known Bible verses, and stuff like that.
I recommend it!

Journeys of Paul Board Game Review

(More customer reviews)If you're looking for some old-fashioned boardgame fun as a change or a break from the electronics craze, this is a really good family game.
I picked up the game a couple of years ago but didn't really opened it until this past week. I thought it was great that someone decided to create a game based on Paul's missionary journeys, but I wasn't sure something as "low-tech" as a boardgame would create interest in today's kids.
Well, I was wrong. My three children, Anne (11 years), Joy (8 years), and Nathan (6 years) had fun playing by themselves. They kinda learned the rules as they played. After watching them go at it for awhile, mom and I got down and dirty with them and took off on the journey from Jerusalem through Asia Minor to plant three churches and be the first to reach Jerusalem.
Sad to say, I lost both games we played as a family. Mom and Joy were the first to get to Rome to "get imprisoned" (since that's what happened to Paul in the Bible). Nathan said he won too, because he was the last to get imprisoned, and he built six churches.
The game's pacing was slow. It took about ten minutes to finish each round (two minutes average for each player), with all the declaration of the move, checking the Event card, and then coming up with a strategy to move or build churches. I love the concept that in order to build a church, you had to build at least seven cell groups. You could also appoint a deacon to help protect and guide the church. (Although I think in the Bible a presbyter (elder) fulfilled that role). You can also trade cards but sometimes that doesn't help your cause.
What would be interesting as well would be some trivia cards that provides more information (historical or geographical) about the ancient cities and tell of the modern equivalent.
