This expansion features some of Heroscape's best-looking figures, but in terms of gameplay, only one of the heroes is worth going out of your way for. From worst to best....
Runa: a killer sculpt squandered on an unplayable figure. If you're one of those Glyph of Mitonsoul fans who enjoys the "fun" of rolling a d20 for each figure on the board and killing that figure on a roll of 1, you're going to love her.
Kee-Mo-Shi: a very odd mix of powers and drawbacks. She has three different melee attacks, and she can use all of them every turn. But she needs to get adjacent to as many enemies as possible in order to have the best chance of doing damage with her slow-working weapons, so her modest supply of defense and life means she almost always dies before making nearly enough of a dent to justify her cost. Not as random as Runa, but still a bad gamble.
Empress Kiova: useful, but only to the Einar Imperium. Pretty straightforward: as of this writing, she offers that one squad, and that squad only, a defense boost about equivalent to old Raelin's. Her defense of 4, stealth flying, and an aura radius of 5 spaces make her well-prepared for combat next to her fellow kyrie heroes. Also unlike most of them, she looks like an actual flying creature, not a human fighter with a pair of wings Photoshopped on.
Eldgrim: not bad as filler in a game with glyphs. This 30-point viking hero can use Overextend to take an extra turn at the price of a wound, and when he dies, his spirit can permanently add 1 to the move of another unique army card you control. It's pretty easy to get 30 points' worth of good out of Eldgrim in a game with strong glyphs (or any special rule offering a reward to figures who get somewhere fast). Features a very detailed and well-painted suit of armor.
Kaemon Awa: one of the top cleanup hitters in existence. The original samurai hero looks great and plays great. He lacks the life points to bear up long under the most intense combat, but as a skirmisher or endgame figure, 120 points will get you nothing better.
