(More customer reviews)This game plays beautifully and looks great. It's really quite a simple game to learn, you are trying to get 3 or more in a row of your color marbles. You roll the red and blue dice and start at the intersection of the numbers that you rolled (numbers in red and blue are printed along the edges of the board). You can then place your marble into that pocket or take a second roll and adjust the row (red) or column (blue) to manoeuver for a better pocket.
The manufacturer has produced a gorgeous solid wood board with colorful solid glass marbles and even nickel-plated scoring pegs. The game comes with a clear (wow!) lid so you can see the beautiful board and marbles. There are even rules in English and French (why?).
Two caveats: the game is quite heavy, so if you are mailing it as a gift, you might prefer to have toysrus.com mail it directly. Also, there are many small marbles, so if you have very little kids at home keep this away from them.

Doubles Wild is a game of luck and strategy where the object is to make as many three-in-a-rows as possible in any direction. Your roll determines where your marker may go. If you don't like your first roll, try again, rolling the blue dice, the red dice, or both. If you roll a double on red or blue, that's Wild, and you may place your marble anywhere in the row or column. If you land on your opponent's marble, you battle for control of the pocket. Play offense to make your own three-in-a-rows, defense to block your opponent.
