(More customer reviews)The figures are not as nice (substantial) as the Fame chess sets, which are made of a poly-resin material. These are made of a rubber-like material. Nonetheless, they are not 'cheesy' pieces, they look cool, and they seem to be made to last. The chess board itself is a little cheesy - but you can get better boards out there. The board is longer than it is wide, and is kind of lame. Dimensions: about 18x12 inches (the star Wars, Episode 1 title takes up a lot of space, and other than that the playing space is the normal, square, size). You have to assemble the sides of the playing space (the board sits in a container). the pieces range in size from about 1.5 inches to not more than 4 inches.
Castle = Jar Jar
Knight = little Anakin
Bischop = Obi-wan (blue light saber)
Queen = Queen Amidala (dressed like Padme)
King = Quigon (green light saber)
Castle = Destroyer Droid
Queen = Darth Maul
King = Darth Sidious
It's very easy to get the pieces confused, even though they are engraved with what they are supposed to be. Example - you move Anakin into position, then forget that he's the Knight. (That is something probably that you have to get used to over time).
