(More customer reviews)I have been playing this game with my family for many years, so I was thrilled when we had an opportunity to get our own copy of this classic. We played several games with my extended family this Christmas, and we had a blast.
In brief, this game is played by a team shouting out guesses to try to identify the ten answers on the answer sheet under a particular category, such as "Football Positions" (quarterback, linebacker, punter, etc.) or "Movies Starring Marlon Brando" (On the Waterfront, A Streetcar Named Desire, etc.).
To be honest, this game is now very dated. They have apparently released an updated version called Outburst Remix, and that's probably a better investment at this point because the questions on the original Outburst are decades out-of-date. For instance, under the category of "New York City," one of the answers was Mayor Koch, who left office in 1989. So, success on some of the categories requires the answering team to remember that the game was made in the mid-1980s.
In any case, this game is a blast. It's very simple to play. The format of this game is very unintimidating and allows anyone to participate. It allows for a virtually unlimited number of participants. And a game can be completed in less than an hour. I love Outburst and hope to try the updated version to see how this classic game has evolved.
