(More customer reviews)I tried this game recently with my Wednesday gaming group. They loved it. It encourages conversation and it reveals things by secret ballot voting, so you don't know who said what unless they say it. Here's how it works:
There are two votes during each statement. The game says go by the number on the previous card, but we just gave a card out to each player and let them choose. Each card has eight statements, four on each side numbered 1 through 4. 1s are mild stuff, 4s are the real "eye opener" statements, like "I don't use protection during love making" (an actual statement in the game). For the first vote, everyone votes yes or no as to whether the statement applies to them. The votes then go in the "ballot box" which normally contains all the contents of the game. Players then vote on how many players said "yes" to the statement (from 0 to 8). This is done on another voting card which you keep.
The "yes" votes are then counted, by the "host" or take turns with the person reading the statement counting. The rules say guessing the exact vote scores a point, 10 points wins the game. We changed that slightly. An exact vote scores two points, coming within one high or low scores one point. We did two rounds with six players in turn reading a statement. The high scorer had 17 points.
The voting devices are flimsy. During one round everyone had to re-vote because one of the votes fell out of its case when the votes were revealed from the ballot box. But overall the game is fun, and depending on the statement being read it can also be provocative. If it's all adults, the Number 4 questions will spark talk. If kids are involved, avoid the Number 4 questions and go for the tamer stuff. A rarity in games, this can be a fun family game or a lively adult game.
