(More customer reviews)Our family regularly plays family games, and this set is one of the nicest games we own. It's well made and very large at 18.25" by 22.5" inches when fully opened. The case closes up nicely and has a stainless steel clasp.
This game was a pleasure to play and my daughter especially enjoys learning new strategies to beat me at this game. Although the game box indicates that this game is for ages fourteen and up, my eight year old has no trouble at all playing this game. In fact, I think it's preferable to challenge young minds to learn problem solving strategies rather than wait until they are older.
I would recommend this game if you plan to use it often and are looking for a board and pieces that will stand the test of time. If I was in the market for a new chess and checkers set, Main Street Games would probably be my first choice after having played their backgammon game.
If you check the comments section I'll include a couple of places to find tutorials on how to play backgammon. The included instructions were quite good, but the orange print was not something I would expect to come with a game of this quality.
