(More customer reviews)This chess set arrived today as a Christmas Present for my son and I am too embarrassed to give it to him even an 11 year old will know it is just junk! The striped wood on one side of the folding board is made out of an entirely different kind of wood than the wood on the other side. So it looks like it was put together in two different factories in China, like one hand didn't know what the other hand was doing. Mis-matched. I mean it looks really weird, not just a little bit off.
Also, this board is advertised as 16 inches, which is misleading. The playing surface itself is only 12 inches and the pieces are extremely small as you would expect for a 12 inch set. But I thought I was paying up for a 16 inch set with bigger pieces. Sure, the exterior case & handle measures 16, but the playing surface is 12.
OK so for 20 dollars it is cheap so expectations are so low that it is OK it is junk?
No, was not expecting something actually going in the scrap heap! Don't buy!
