Your starting funds are borrowed and the interest rate is sky high (20% per turn). Furthermore you will need to borrow more money to raise enough capital to pay your debts and build a network capable of generating significant income. Furthermore to get this income stream up and running, you will be competing with other railroad companies for precious cubes to deliver. The economics are unforgiving and the interaction is in your face, to say the least.
But the payoff is worth it! Just as the Hulk-ster told all his Hulkamaniacs if you "say your prayers and take your vitamins you will never go wrong", if you plan and persevere you can profit. And when you turn profitable and begin operating in the black, it's a great feeling.
This game has it all: tense auctions, difficult economics, fierce competition for prime links to build and cubes to ship, balance of short-term tactics and long-term strategic planning. And it all comes together flawlessly.
