(More customer reviews)First off, you need not know anything about Pokemon to play this game; you just need a little luck and basic addition skills (the ability to add single digit numbers and distinguish between a higher and lower number).
My 5 year-old son loves anything Pokemon and got this game for Christmas. It has been enjoyed by friends his age, my 24 year-old sister and her boyfriend, my 13 year-old female cousin and even my 75 year-old grandma! Everyone always comments on how "different" it is.
We play a lot of board games and I think this one is very unique, which is one of the reasons I like it so much. It's also very interactive between players and I am always amazed at how quickly my son can add up the "battle points" in his head. There are tons of pokemon cards (like 180 or something?) and he loves looking through those even when not playing the actual board game.
He and I play one-on-one a lot, and we have also pulled out his Pokemon figures and played wth more than four people, although room around the board was a little tight.
Overall, I really love this game. It has easily become a favorite of the entire family.
