We didnt play it like it suggested, we had the 6-8 players but I invited 50 people and had them all bring a Hawaiian dish to past and had them all wear Hawaiian clothes and gave out leis when they all arrived. I then divided everyone up and had 6 tables of people to all "help" their character figure out who dun it. I have had many parties before but this one was the first murder. I cant believe how much fun everyone had and the reaction I got on how everyone loved it! I am already planning the next one and I know I will have more people next time. I think only having 6-8 people to "play' this game with is a waste! Everyone has Hawaiian things to wear and it was a blast!

How to Host a Murder: The Wall Street Scandal Review

(More customer reviews)We have played three of these murder mysteries now. This one was the least entertaining. The story was not as well developed as in the others. The information for each round was not complex enough to generate a lot of enjoyable discussion. The setting was not as exotic. If you are looking to play one of these games, I recommend the "Tragical Mystery Tour", with a hippie theme, in the same series.
As for educational value and durability, that's not really the point of any of these murder mysteries. The themes are mature, and they are targeted for adults, who want escapism not education. There is no durability, as they can be played one time, after which the murder is solved and the mystery is over.

The Grateful Dead Game Review

(More customer reviews)This game looks really nice, in full color, with lots of cool Grateful Dead symbols and logos.
I bought this game to play with my teenage son. This game cannot be played with just two players, or even three. You need two teams!
Game does specify that it is for 2 or more players,which was incorrect.
I contacted the manufacturer about this, and the have info on playing with two players, which just doesn't work. They also sent me a Jerry Garcia puzzle, which did make up for not being able to use the game.
I sold it on ebay, but in my auction I made it clear that you need two teams to play.

(More customer reviews)My 3 y/o grandson has fun with this game (will be 4 in Oct. '08). His parents wanted him to have more games that would give him a chance to think and strategize. It's a little advanced right now, but he has fun learning. It's bright and colorful. The game combines his knowledge of colors and numbers/counting to advance all 4 of his characters across the barnyard before his opponent can. He's delighted if Grandma's cow, pig, turkey or duck has to start over. The only negative in the games durability is the playing pieces. They are cardboard animals that slide into plastic stands. Little hands can ruin these in a short time. I think that one piece colored, plastic animals would work better.

(More customer reviews)Ok, I'm going to explain in brief if you are not familiar with this game, but if you've done this before, skip down to the next paragraph. Basically, 4 males and 4 females (you can reverse roles, it isn't very restrictive) get together one night, and a murder have been committed (usually the imaginery host that invited the guests is killed.) Now the 8 players will try to figure out who done the horrible crime. Each person has a manual that gives out clues and with them you try to figure out who's the guilty one by conversation. Usually dinner is served and the whole game is actually pretty involved, mine takes about 4-5 hours.
Alright, enough ranting, lets discuss why you would want to buy this game. Again, if you have experienced this before, you know that this is a lot of fun, its a good way to spend a few hours with 7 of your friends. This is all about interactions, and so you get to see how your friends react when pressed and how well they can persuade others to believe their arguments. Game is very innovative, from costumes to preparing dinner to the story and the solution, I wouldn't say this game is educational, but it does help one to think deductively and inductively, it practices one to be observant and to ask questions. There is a lot to this game and this episode is one of my favorite. Treat yourself to a night of fun and intrigue, and as a suggestion to newcomers, try the first few episodes, they are relatively easy and quick to solve, helps you to get the hang of this game.

Zoob The Game Review

(More customer reviews)We love Zoobs, and I bought this game thinking my 5 year old would enjoy it. But it is pretty boring, honestly. My son played once with me, and then he said, "Don't we have a big box of these? Let's go build our own stuff with them!" I will be surprised if we ever play it again.
The game comes with just a few project cards, perhaps 15 or so, and not a lot of Zoobs. To play, you get a project card, roll a die, travel around a plain game board, land on a space, and pick up the color of the zoob you've landed on, and so on, until you've collected all the color Zoobs you need. Then you roll the die until you get to the finish line, at which point you try to build your simple Zoob project.
What could have improved this game?
1. More interesting and involved project cards. Most of the cards had simple projects made from 7-10 Zoobs. I think you really need projects with 20-30 to get anything kids will find cool. A couple of cards tell you which Zoobs to pick up and let you make whatever you want. It might be nice for some cards to provide flexibility but also some guidelines, such as, "Make a 4-legged animal using 18 Zoobs", and so on.
2. More variety in the game board spaces - most of them allowed you to pick up one zoob of a specified color, and a few allowed you to swap a zoob or take a zoob from another player. But that was it.
3. More zoobs!
If your child is interested in building things, I'd forgo this game and just get him a nice set of Zoobs.

Murder Mystery Party - Pasta, Passion and Pistols Review

(More customer reviews)This is the second murder mystery game we've played and while we had fun, we thought this one could have been better. The story line was fine, the menu was good, and the decorations were easy to make or buy. We had fun playing the game and we didn't think the mystery was unsolvable (even though only one person guessed correctly). We had a good time with our horrible accents and people did a good job with their costumes.
The part we were disappointed in was the "Extra Players" part. This game is actually for 6 players, even though it says you can invite 8. We invited 3 other couples to the party, and the couple that played the extra parts (Father Alfredo and Clair Voyant) felt very left out. They had very few lines, weren't suspects in the mystery, and their parts were pretty lame. I felt this game could have included them more if they had better parts, even if they still weren't suspects in the mystery. I would suggest that if you have friends who aren't likely to get into the game to give them the extra players' parts. They can easily sit by the wayside and not do much and still enjoy what the other players are doing.
Overall it was fun and I enjoyed the Italian/New York theme, but just keep in mind that it's really a game for 6.
