My daughter (4 yr.) loves everything princess. This game incorporates princess theme while teaching the basics of counting, taking turns, and basic game playing etc. I was surprised with the materials it was made from at first (I don't know what I was expecting...maybe cardboard), but it was a nice, sturdy material (maybe tin).

Disney Princess Enchanted Dream Ball Game Review

I was in the states and found this game for my four year old, who absolutely adores princesses. She just loved it and we play it often. When her little friends come over they pull it out and play and all seem to love it.
It serves as a good memory game because we always turn the game pieces back over if we don't get the one we need.
This game has been a big hit with my daughter she loves that we wear crowns and that there is a magic wand. Hope it is as big a hit with yours!

Sleepy Princess and the Pea Review

Sleepy Princess and the Pea

Sleepy Princess and the Pea is a beautiful game for children ages 3-12. It is made by Haba toys, a German toy manufacturer that makes games and toys using real materials like wood and fabric to produce top-quality products that will make any parent and every child happy.
Sleepy Princess is based on the classic fairy tale where a disheveled young girl shows up at a palace one rainy night and claims to be a princess. The queen tests her by putting her in a bed with dozens of mattresses, pillows and blankets beneath her and a tiny pea buried beneath them all. If she is a real princess, thinks the queen, she will be so delicate that she will feel the discomfort of the pea beneath the huge pile of bedding. Of course, the princess passes the test and is rewarded with the prince of the palace's hand in marriage.
This game is a relatively simple game, all the players have to do is stack the provided mattresses on top of the pea without allowing them to tumble. Children do not need to be able to read to play this game, but it will help them develop their fine motor skills and the cooperative version of the game does away with the winner/loser sensibility that so many American children's games have.
Children will find the charming concept and fun and colorful game pieces (including the adorable wooden princess doll) irresistable. This game is particularly enticing for children who are studying Waldorf or Montessori methods of education, where tactile learning is encouraged.

Is the princess really a princess? The players pile up cushions, blankets and mattresses for the "bed test". At the bottom of it all, of course, lies a pea! A wobbly pilling game with two variations, for 1 - 4 children. Includes the fairytale to read over and over again.

Mall Madness Littlest Pet Shop Review

Mall Madness Littlest Pet Shop

We owned the original Mall Madness and it is a very fun game. However, the set up and tear down time was just too long. We never wanted to get it out and play because it was too time consuming. I saw this on clearance after Christmas and realized it was a new design. Since we loved playing the original the few times we made the effort to set it up I thought I'd give it a shot and I am very glad I did. This is basically the same fun game with an updated easy to set up design! The only difference in game play is that the girl game tokens have pets with them and the stores are animal related. For instance, a pet salon rather than a hair salon and a chew toy store rather than a toy store. The set up time is practically nothing on this version. It is just so well designed. The top velcro's together. Pop it apart, and fold it down. The top story is already attached and pops up. Then, just set down the electronic center piece that scans the ATM cards, grab your tokens and you are ready to play. Afterward, everything fits neatly in the middle of the game board, close the case and snap the velcro and you are done. We will definately play this revised design much more often. Although if your child is not into the whole pet theme, you may have to stick with the older design as long as you can stand the set up time! Both games are tons of fun and easy to play.

Pretty Pretty Princess Sleeping Beauty Review

Pretty Pretty Princess Sleeping Beauty

My daughters love the Disney Princesses, much to my chagrin, and I knew that this game would be an instant hit with my "girly" girls.
The game hasn't changed much since my little sister received it for one of her adolescent birthdays (she's 23 now) except that since this version is a Princess version, you don't get the black ring as a setback, but get a cardboard playing piece Maleficent instead.
There are 4 girly coloured playing pieces to choose from (all Sleeping Beauty, no other Princess choices) blue, yellow, pink, and purple. Each person chooses a colour and there is corresponding jewelry to match that colour: one necklace, one bracelet, a pair of dangly earrings, and a ring. My only problem with the jewelry I received in my game is that one of the earrings from two colours (one purple earring and one blue earring) does not close remotely tight enough to hang on an earlobe (thought none of the jewelry is supposed to fit tight anyway). This really takes away from the fun of the game as we cannot wear those pieces. The point of the game is to spin a spinner and go around the board and land on spaces to collect all your corresponding jewelry AND the Princess crown while NOT in possession of Maleficent.
The crown is more fun than the old version because this game comes with a sheet of old school stick on earrings that you can decorate the crown with and make as fancy as you want. Or you can just keep the stickers and use them as we would have in the '80s- worn them on our ears.
The gameboard itself is very simple. It's 4 cardboard pieces in the 4 colours that lock in a diamond shape, but unfortunately these pieces lock together and are not interchangeable so if you are playing with a PINK lover and a PURPLE lover, they have to move to that spot of the board to begin with. In the middle of the diamond shape is a space reserved for a small pink container that holds all the jewelry, playing pieces, and uses the lid as the spinner very smartly. The spinner is numbered one to four, so this game may be a challenge to those younger ones who cannot identify numbers by sight, but this game taught my 3.5 those numbers.
While not my style, per se, my daughters (3.5 and 2) love this game. It will teach them how to take turns, identify colours (and basic jewelry terms), counting, and number recognition. It even teaches fine motor skills (putting a bracelet on, etc). As long as the quality of the jewelry you receive is good, this is a great game for the girly girl in all of us.
I also love watching Dad play this game with the girls as well (bring a camera)!

Princess and The Pea Review

My two little girls, aged 4 and 7 played this game for hours. I checked it out and ended up playing for a long time too. It is a game of luck and the player in the lead can change at any time, giving all of the children the chance to feel like they're winning. Teaches good counting skills with the beds too. The game does not take long to play which keeps their attention level high. highly recommended!

Princess & The Pea is an ideal game for any young princess. Players move their princess along the board, collecting mattresses as they go. The winner is the princess who has collected the most mattresses when someone reaches the "crown” space.
