Last month I bought a Franklin Mint Monopoly off Ebay and it is one of my favorite things that I own. i collect Monopoly games and to own this version feels like I own the crown jewel of Monopoly games. The board is beautiful and the gold hotels look beautiful as well. The deeds are kept in a fancy portfolio and the silver houses are wonderful. the money that comes with this game looks different from any other Monopoly game and the look of it makes it look more royal. The banker's drawer is a nice touch to this game and it really makes people want to be the banker in a game of Monopoly. The tokens look wonderful! I put a token from this game next to a token from the Deluxe Edition and the real gold of the Franklin Mint looks much better than the painted gold of the Deluxe edition.
I just have to say that if your a person who collects Monopoly games then you need to have this game is your collection.

The Collector's Edition is an extraordinary, deluxe edition that comes complete with replicas of the original 1935 edition game tokens embellished with gold, exclusively designed MONOPOLY game money, die-cast houses and hotels accented with silver or gold respectively, and a raised hardwood-framed game board. The distinctive banker's tray lends a stately touch as it organizes money, tokens, Community Chest and Chance cards, and your houses and hotels. Includes a handsome portfolio to store and display the deed cards and the rules and history of the game booklet.

Monopoly Money Review

Monopoly Money

This is apparently the same amount and distribution of money currently provided in the classic Monopoly games. In other words, it is exactly the same pack of money you get if you buy the game. You get the following:
40 - One dollar bills
40 - Five dollar bills
40 - Ten dollar bills
48 - Twenty dollar bills
23 - Fifty dollar bills
23 - One Hundred dollar bills
23 - Five Hundred dollar bills
I don't know why they insist on having these amounts in the pack, but at least you know what you will get. I still say that they should at least double the amount of one hundred dollar bills, since people tend to run out of them quickly!
I bought two. I am very happy with them. How excited can you get about play money?

Monopoly Family Championship Review

Monopoly Family Championship

I am a life time fan of Monopoly and have owned more Monopoly boards that I can remember. This latest version of the board is very interesting in that it gives you the official tournament rules as are used if you should ever happen to enter in an official Parker Brothers Monopoly tournament that are held every year. You can still play regular Monopoly or various house rule versions, but this version makes it easier to play the tournament version by including some extra special stuff. Included is a speed die, which some classic players will find weird but it IS used to speed things up in official tournaments so if you want to feel what it's like to play like the pros, you'll use it. Basically the speed die adds to your regular two dice roll, either a 1 to 3 in #s, or a bus, or mr monopoly. The 1,2,or 3 on the speed die just adds to your move, effectively getting players around the board faster, the bus on the speed die allows you to roll the value of one or both of your dice, so if you rolled an 11 (5 on one die, 6 on another, and then BUS on the speed die) you could move 5, 6, or 11 spaces - your choice. The final added speed die face is Mr Monopoly which immediately moves the number you rolled, where you can act (buy it, auction, or pay rent of already owned) but THEN you get an extra turn almost and are moved on to the next un-purchased property. if all properties are purchased, you are moved onto the next property group. This speeds up the game significantly and adds a little more maneuvering & strategy. It's not for everyone, but it is interesting and was the MANDATORY way to play in the last official tournament. It remains to be seen whether they keep the speed die around for the next 2013 tournament (as long as the world doesn't blow up, get taken over by aliens or the New World Order.. but lets think positive here.. this is a Monopoly review!).
Also included is a score pad for easy tallying of your total net worth at the end of the game if you are playing a timed game. There is also a rather hokey trophy included, but you might get a kick out of it.
The standard monopoly tokens are included, but the houses and hotels and board have some different colors. All in all I really like this set of Monopoly and for the cheap price it's being offered here it's definitely worth picking this version up. I have a few pet peeves that keep this from getting a 5 star review, and they are as follows:
The board is a 'quad' fold board. I hate quad fold boards as do most people, they are ugly and not as sturdy and they include an extra slice in the board that is not needed if they would just go back to making bi-fold boards. Please Hasbro, listen to this. No one likes the quad fold boards.
The money. This version of monopoly money is a little weird and not the standard colors. They changed the 10s to the color the 50s used to be, light blue, and they changed the 50s to purple.
Not a big deal but annoying if you have older standard monopoly money or are a fan of the classic colors. Also, they only include 1 pack of money and you always end up needed more if playing with more than 4 players.
Still, these little things don't keep this from being a great version, at an awesome price. I was very happy with it!
