I had owned the original German version of this game titled "ader Verphlichtet", ['], which allowed for 2-5 players (Germany's game of the year in 1990). My family thoroughly enjoyed this game for years, but the art cards and money (checks) became worn after years of game play. So I sought out obtaining replacement cards, but stumbled upon Hoity Toity, an American reissue version, which allows for 2-6 players (hooray-more can enjoy).
The game is very unique, is somewhat challenging to learn, but addicting to play once you know how.
Players seek to advance around the board, with the winner(s) making it to the ultimate dinner table at the end of the board. Players buy and steal art, exhibit art, and can play a detective to bust thieves. The game has a unique game play, which I feel is best described as a type of "rock-paper-scissors" as you try to outmaneuver your opponents by predicting what you think they are going to do (and what you think you are going to do). While some reviewers might downplay this as random and guessing, I think it actually increases the strategy, and makes it fun for kids as well as adults.
I highly recommend this game.
