(More customer reviews)Me and the boyfriend were a bit hesitant to purchase this game due to the fact that there wasn't many reviews for this game out there- and boy were we happy we snagged it up! We were at a local board game shop and decided to grab this as an impulse buy along with another game and we couldn't be happier! Pirate King stripped down to it's basic core may seem monopoly-esque but it takes all of the boring and predictability aspects of it and puts a violent and pirate spin on it. You sail around islands grabbing up ports, once you capture nearby ports you can start a trade route that will allow you to upgrade your ports to more advanced defenses. As you continue to build up your sea empire and upgrade your ship- you gain points, the player to reach the desired amount is granted the title of pirate king! However seafarers beware- in pirate king you can make allies with others or choose to attack them and try to steal both their loot and their ports! If you sail into a port that is owned by another player and don't wish to pay the docking fees you may choose to attack the port- but choose wisely... only a wise captain will last long enough to brave the seven seas and be crowned pirate king!
Overall we're very pleased with this random purchase, it's a great game and at such a great price you should really buy it to add to your board game collection!
