(More customer reviews)When I traveled to Hong Kong I bought myself two xiangqi sets, one at a hardware store for about $1US and one from the Ladies' Market in Kowloon for about $6US hich is exactly like this one. I'm very happy with the quality of the board and pieces. The board is veneer but is nicely made and holds the pieces very snugly with a magnetic latch. The quality of the pieces is very good in terms of size, weight, quality of the characters and paint job. These heavy plastic pieces are much nicer in quality than the wooden pieces I've seen in several similarly priced sets. It may seem outrageous to pay $30 for something I bought for $6 but that is about the best price you can get online for a similar quality board and pieces shipped to the US. Cheaper sets tend to have much cheaper quality boards with similar or worse quality pieces. As such I find this board from YMI to be a good value.
