(More customer reviews)It's a great premise, you play the Fairy Tale trivia game on the DVD (no game board, the game keeps track of your space on screen), and as you progress, you earn the right to select words for your Mad Lib style fairy tale that you are creating as you progress.
The game comes only with a DVD and the pad of Mad Libs. So, you will easily run out of the Mad Lib fairy tales very quickly. The DVD boasts a special level selection feature that allows anyone to play because it automatically adjusts for level of experience based on what you enter. The game suggests this is suitable for ages 6-106. However, when we played with 8 year old girls, selecting the easiest level, the questions ranged from very difficult (How many muses in Greek Mythology) to laughably easy (Spot the VERY OBVIOUS difference between two pictures).
Also, the handling of the DVD in answering and moving on to the next level was tricky. In some spaces, you could not move on until you selected OK, but in other places if you dawdled too long in responding with the remote, it would skip you and penalize the player. I don't know about anyone else, but my DVD remote is sometimes slow to respond, so I incurred the wrath of several 8 year old girls when I didn't get the button pushed fast enough.
So, I'd have to say this is an excellent idea but poorly executed. I did give it three stars because the girls enjoyed it somewhat, and the Fairy Tales they completed were pretty funny. I'd like to see a more well done version of this game.
