(More customer reviews)I first saw this game in the 80's when another kid brought it to school once.
It stayed somewhere in my mind as a game I wanted to have one day, "when I grew up."
So now that I am a passable version of an adult, I bought it and it is still as fun with other pretend grownups as I remember it being as a child.
Being 4 player, it allows alliances and treachery, immediate attacks to the players to your side, more action due to double the number of rooks and knights on each team, PLUS having two more players, some piece is constantly getting killed. Plus there is a new "Spy" piece.
I only wish there was a premium edition of this game with a higher end board and some finer pieces. But I guess I could always have one made.
Definitely a great family board game.

Chess Empire is similar to regular chess, but it features a few changed rules, more pieces per player, and the addition of new chess piece called The Spy. It's a classic game with a new-age twist.

Regular chess has 16 pieces per player, but Chess Empire has 28 pieces per player. Chess Empire also allows 2, 3, or even 4 players to battle each other as the action happens from all sides. Strategies not possible with regular chess open up before your eyes as you learn exciting new moves and try to achieve victory. Board measures 20" x 20". Includes complete instructions. For 2-4 players.
