Our whole family played the adventure through together: each player pretends to be a Pokemon trainer traveling to Pewter city, collecting Pokemon along the way. It loosely follows the story-line of the first few cartoon episodes. Children can role-play and add details to the story as they like. They can follow the story, or they can use the cards to make up their own Pokemon battles. I was surprised at how fast my daughter picked up on hit points and attack rolls! I hope that Hasbro will come out with another adventure soon.
