(More customer reviews)The rules are simple and straightforward. This game is a perfect fit for kindergartners and up, but it's also very fun for adults too. I love playing cards and board games with kids, but to be perfectly honest some are a bit mind numbing. This game requires the perfect combination of skill and luck to make it fun for the entire family!
We received Word Pirates for my daughter's 6th birthday. Before playing it with her I played it with another adult and we thought it was very fun, but could be potentially a little too challenging (read frustrating) for some emergent readers/spellers. Nonetheless, I played the next day with my daughter. I told her I would help her when/if she needed. Well, she absolutely did not want or need my help! She made a very steady path to the treasure made up entirely of three letter words all on her own and actually beat her old mom fair and square!

Build bridges, acquire land and block your way to the pirates treasure, matey! Players roll letter dice to build bridges of words and use rock walls to block their enemies path all in effort to make their way across shark infested waters in order to be the first one to reach the pirate loot. A great family game.
