It seems fine, but I barely got it off the ground the first time (I am a cautious pilot), then landed it and when I tried to lift off a second time for good, the rotor would not move.
I have here a fully equipped electronics lab so i checked out the whole thing and it seems just all right, except that once the gyro stabilized the red LED on the main board regularly blinks three times in a row, most likely indicating a failure of some sort.
I could not find a service manual anywhere on the web- can someons point me to one?
I dismantled the transmitter and chacked it thoroughly (I even soldered the antenna on to be sure) and it seems to be working just fine.
The first flight was fine and not too stressful: I had it hover at about 2 inches off the ground and go around for 15 seconds; it was responsive and felt just fine before I landed it, but at an average of $2 for each second of flight so far it is still way too expensive.
A service manual, anyone?

If you are not into the RC plane hobby, you need to understand what you are in for. This is a fragile high tech piece of equipment. Those who have flown RC Planes know this but those of you that are new to RC flying would be well served to buy 2 of these. One to fly and one to take parts off of when they break, and they will break.
Any fall from greater that the default (9') will cause extensive damage, a new system board is $99 and the costs of the parts quickly add up. Just a note replacement parts are not shipping at this time.
Yes these are easy to fly, but they are easy to crash and break very easily. I have a broken, central cross, system board, body set, shaft and gear.
It's fun to fly but even after about 10 hrs under my belt I am still using the indoor hull outside. Shaft and gear will break if prop hits anything. Any wind is a problem. My indoor hull is showing signs of stress and I imagine it will not last much longer.
It is well worth the $299 price but keep in mind, it will break,
FWIW I sent support an email over 2 weeks ago and no response, I sat for hours on the phone and never talked to anyone. You are on your own with this. Oh and try and find parts, my guess is 80% of the drones out there are non usable.
Buyer beware THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE TOY, that breaks very easily and the replacement parts are pricey.

This is NOT a toy!!! This is a fully functional flying electric micro model helicopter which uses state-of-the-art electronics and radio guidance.
I am an experienced RC model aircraft pilot but find the model helicopters a bit too challenging and costly to learn. Model helicopters (referred to as "heli's") are very complex mechanical devices with lots of things happening all at once for raw beginners to master. I have a computer software simulator program for model airplanes and heli's but have a very difficult time flying any of the heli's.
These coaxial model heli's use counter rotating main blades instead of the tail rotor and greatly simplifies the control input needed for stable flying.
The Blade mCX uses Spektrum's 2.4gHtz DSM2 technology. I already had a JR-X9303 2.4gHtz transmitter so I bought the "Bind 'n Fly" version of the Blade mCX which comes without a transmitter. If you don't have a Spektrum compatible 2.4gHtz DSM2 transmitter, then you need to purchase the Ready-to-Fly (RTF) version of this for about $30 additional.
After charging the tiny 110mAH single cell (1S) Lithium Polymer (LiPo) battery, I bound the Blade mCX to a new memory location on my transmitter using the aircraft settings with all default parameters. After binding, I turned everything off then plugged in the LiPo on the mCX then turned on my transmitter. It took about 2 seconds for the link to establish which was indicated by the red LED on the 5-1 controller board to glow continuously. After checking the control inputs per the mCX manual, I gradually increased the throttle and held the mCX in a hover about 5" off the floor, getting used to the elevator, rudder, aileron and throttle inputs and effect of each on the mCX. You'll have problems getting the mCX to go (or stay) where you want it initially. Fear not, for the entire heli weighs only 28 grams (1 ounce) and the parts are small and durable enough to survive a couple of slight mishaps.
After a couple of flights in this mode, I started hovering higher and practicing forward/reverse, left/right and up/down functions. I can now somewhat safely fly around the living room and it really drives the dog nuts! Although the plastic blades are of a lightweight flexible plastic, they do rotate at an impressive speed so safety is well-advised. And again, this is NOT a child's toy. I would not recommend it for children under 12 years.
That said, the Blade mCX heli is a marvelous piece of engineering and technology. If you're careful with the throttle control, you can fly for 6-8 minutes or longer. Once you find you need to start adding more power to maintain hover or need additional rudder corrections to keep it pointed in one direction, your flight battery is beginning to reach it's low voltage cutoff (LVC) point and you should land it. If you hit the LVC, the motor will reduce it's speed and force you to land. If it does this when you're higher than 2-3 feet you'll likely crash land it. The manual warns not to hit the motor LVC point on a regular basis. LiPo's don't like to be over-discharged and you'll shorten the battery life.
My only complaint on the entire package is the charger supplied. It comes with 4 "AA" type batteries. You can get 10-15 charges from a set of fresh AA batteries. I tried using rechargeble 1.2volt Nickle Metal-Hydride Energizer batteries but found it takes far longer to charge the LiPo than using 1.5v alkaline AA cells.
In conclusion, this a terrific micro model helicopter which can be flown by someone with basic knowledge of flight controls. Raw beginners will have a tougher time but the Blade mCX will likely survive the training process. Replacement parts can be readily found at your local hobby dealer.

Most model helicopters are a single crash away from major repair costs or are so slow (coax) that they don't move enough to be damaged. The MSR breaks that rule. It's a speedy ultra micro heli that takes a beating & keeps the rotor spinning.
Unlike most model helicopters of it's size, the MSR (Micro Single Rotor) has a single main rotor blade, & a tail rotor to counteract torque. This means it can be much faster than the typical coax in this size. But, from some innovative offsets of the flybar & a tilted main shaft, it's nearly as stable as a coax to make it forgiving to beginners.
Available as a RTF (Ready to Fly) complete with 2 batteries, 4 port charger, and a simple but effective 2.4GHZ DSM2 transmitter, or a BNF (Bind-n-fly) model that includes everything but the transmitter, the MSR can be the perfect entry into helicopters, or a fun indoor heli to use in the winter months for the expert flyer.
Using the Spektrum DSM2 technology, you can use any 4 channel or better DSM2 transmitter from Spektrum or JR, or another brand with a DSM2 module, so the radio you use on your larger models can also be used on your smallest!
Although, the MSR is incredibly durable, there are some parts that are more prone to breaking & thus you might want some spares on hand. The tail motor if hit in a crash can pop the endcap off. Once that's done, it's near impossible to replace the cap, so you'll need a new Tail Boom Assembly w/Tail Motor/Rotor/Mount: BMSR. Another common part are the Main Blade Grips with/Hardware: BMSR.
Did I mention fast? Yes the MSR is much faster than any coax helicopter out of the box. But E-flite also added a turbo feature. Just switch the ball links on the swashplate to the outer ones & the controls become that much faster. This lets you get even more speed out of the MSR & is a welcome addition for those calm days, when you can take the MSR outdoors. That's right you can fly outside with the MSR... just make sure the wind is no more than about 5 mph.
If you're just thinking about getting into model helicopters or you're a seasoned veteran looking for something to use in your living room, the MSR is for you.
