To Know You Better Board Game Review

To Know You Better Board Game

Although this game is pegged by slogans on the box that say "A Game for a Couple," I believe this is a great game for any two people that would like to get to know one another better, especially when there may be some ice yet to break -- or simply huge differences in lifestyle that one does not want to make an issue about.
I love the way the game promises not to put you in a terribly embarrasing spot trying to answer your question. That is great when it is what you want -- but sometimes you just really want to get to know the other person without feeling too threatened and just have a good time.
My only real criticism of this game is the foo-foo packaging. It's about as sexy as a cup of coffee in the break room at Good Housekeeping. (BORING.) Also, the actual game board is small and flimsy looking, the artwork strictly late-fifties housewife mode. Hey, but if there was anything to have wrong with the game I'd rather those things. Oh, one other thing is I think it would not have been that hard to make this into a game playable by up to 4 people but the game only offers to player pieces and one die and the very small game board, which seems a bit of a shame, especially since it is not exactly an inexpensive game.
All in all, though I give it TWO THUMBS UP! I'll be using it both to get to know a new suitor better -- and to get to know a niece I never met before.
P.S. One thing I forgot to mention which to me is a real plus: hundreds of these question cards are adorned with quotes. Love them quotations! Someone (or some people) put a LOT of time and thought into putting this game together, and they did a swell job. (smile)

I gave this as a gift to a 'foodie' friend and she absolutely loves it. The questions are a great way to start conversation, keep a dinner party talking, and engage just about anyone. Another friend has the basic table topics cube and she and her husband take it in the car for road trips.

Flinch Review

Flinch

I played this game with my cousins and my grandmother when we were little, but I've never known anyone else who played or who had a set. Even 20 years later, we are likely to get it out & play when visiting, and now that 2 of her great-grandchildren are old enough to play we are all remembering how much fun it is! I've been searching for a deck to have at home for my son - I think I'll order more as Christmas presents for the family. It can go slowly with a new (or young) player, but the more you play the faster you play, and it gets very exciting. Fun and interesting for even a 7-year-old, but the pace changes with the skill level of the players. You can have a furious contest or a quiet game with conversation...very versatile. I love this game!

Table Topics Conversation Cards - Couples Edition (Blue) Review

Table Topics Conversation Cards - Couples Edition (Blue)

I got these cards because my husband had mentioned in passing that it would be great if they made cards suggesting topics to discuss while at dinner. As a married couple with two young kids, we thought it would be a great thing to keep us from constantly talking about the kids or blankly staring at each other across the table. Unfortunately, too many of the "conversation starters" turned out to be WAY too uncomfortable. For example, "Have you ever cheated on a lover?" and "What's the worst mistake you ever made in a relationship?" or "Which sexual activity would you like to try if there were no negative consequences?"... these cards often bring up PAST relationships, or, like the last question, pose a question that touts no consequences, when in reality, the answer itself is likely charged with consequences. The cards are a great idea, but the questions should be more interesting, rather than biting.

Dilbert: Escape from Cubeville Review

Dilbert: Escape from Cubeville
Average Reviews:

What a great game! Were not huge Dilbert fans but loved it anyway. It only takes a few minutes to learn how to play and it only takes a few minutes to become hooked... You set up the board randomly (like the settlers of catan, each game is different), place your piece and then your cards determine how you move. You try to move your piece across the board by manipulating the board squares. You have to worry about your own characters path, while also trying to change and block your opponent's paths, and also trying to get the boss to attack your enemies while not attacking you. Lots of fun and easy. My 7 year old daughter actually beat us in only her second game. I highly recommend it, especially at Amazon's price!

The Maze Game of Manipulation and Coercion! It's Friday afternoon, and the Pointy-Haired Boss is looking for a "volunteer" to work over the weekend. In this exciting twist on traditional board games, players choose Dilbert, Alice, Wally or Asok and race opponents through a maze of office cubicles.Visiting the break room is easy and may seem like a good place to hide, but beware; just like in most offices, the Pointy-Haired Boss frequents the break rooms often.Dilbert: Escape from Cubeville's 60 Movement Cards allow players to manipulate the Cubicle Tile game board, ensuring a different game every time it's played. With more changes than a corporate re-org, players clear their own path or block another player's passage, all while avoiding the Pointy-Haired Boss!Remember - the sooner you escape the office, the sooner your weekend begins!

Do Tell the Relationship Board Game Family Version Review

Do Tell the Relationship Board Game Family Version
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Do Tell, family version is absolutely the best communication game I have ever played. I run a non-profit for kids called [...] and we have played it with them, I have played it with my own family, my kids, husband, parents and even friends. It's a hit. It is not about winning AT ALL which I love. It's about the process and what you learn as you get to the end. The description of the game does NOT do it justice when it says you will learn things about your family you never knew before - THEY REALLY MEAN IT. The only way to understand this is to play it. This game absolutey needs to be in schools, counselors offices, therapists offices, hospitals restaurants - literally anywhere that kids are. I have two boys who rarely tell me ANYTHING but this game makes them think about their true answers. By the time we are finished with the game, our stomaches hurt from laughing so much, we're touched by the answers some have shared and there is an overwhelming feeling of connection between the people who played the game. I'm not a big promoter of things unless I think it can change lives and this game is the BEST board game I have ever played, for the process and the end results. A must have in every home, school, church, therapist office and kids center. Thank you for making such a wonderful game!!!
