(More customer reviews)I researched quite a few kid's travel desks and decided on this one. I read the dimensions, but it didn't occur to me that 12" was "open". I know that is the right way to measure it, but I was thinking that the "surface" would be 12 inches, which is is not. The writing/magnetic surface is only 5 1/2" x 5". It comes with two sheets of tiny magnets. The alphabet magnets are about 1/2" high, which I guess is ok for tiny hands, but definitely means that the recommended age of 3 must be adhered to. Since this is collapsible, it has a section that connects the two pieces which pops apart very easily. The snaps that hold it together are also very thin plastic and won't stand up to being open/shut many times. It's a really cute concept, but a little smaller and flimsier than I would have paid this much for.
