It has always been an epic, tense one-on-one game of warfare and area control. This reprint by Valley Games leaves the game play essentially unchanged, and takes advantage of the graphic and printing capabilities available now to freshen (without cheapening) the look of the board, the counters, the cards, and the rule book. The game is not for the faint of heart. You have to be ready to digest a well-organized 25 page rule book and if you can finish in the box time of 2-1/2 hours, you're quite a bit faster than I am. But if you like campaigns that play out differently every time, and little pieces of cardboard that seem to take on heroic personalities, give Hannibal a try. Sometimes things do get better with age.
