Phantom Leader is a "serious" solitaire wargame. You can find an overview of it at BGG or the publisher's site. It isn't too complicated, but there are lots of little rules you might forget, such as not flying Corsairs in 1965 or forgetting to apply an AtG weight penalty when firing AtA weapons. It takes only about 30-40 minutes for me to fly a mission, most of which is 'thinking' time: Which target should I choose? Can I afford to bring my Newbie along for this mission? Should I pay for a tanker? Give a pilot two Mk.82s or one Mk.84? Approach high or low? Destroy that SA-2 or save my weapons for the target?
There's a lot to decide. In addition, there's a bit of a role playing aspect where pilots can level up during a campaign (which can run for something like 4 to 12 missions). The game is great of theme and decision-making, nothing special on looks. It can be frustrating at times, and isn't a "fun" game like, I dunno, Memoir 44. I recommend it, but make sure you know it's the sort of thing you want to play.

Each of the campaigns can be played with either an Air Force or Navy squadron. The targets assigned to each service are different and change the complexion of the campaigns. Each campaign can be played with three different durations of: Skirmish, Conflict, or War. Each mission takes roughly 30 minutes to set-up, plan, and resolve.
