(More customer reviews)My daughter received this for her 2nd birthday, and it's a manageable step up from more clearly toy-ish items like the Chicco DJ/Mixer keyboard she got the year before. It has a 2-octave keyboard and some Spongebob-worthy tones (music box, banjo, organ) and an array of drum beats -- it rivals any Casio junker I had when I was a kid.
But if you're planning on using this to actually teach your child piano, think twice. While the inability to play chords (two or more notes simultaneously) is par for the course with these things, our Spongebob keyboard is tuned a full step higher (ie, an F key sounds a G note) than a normal piano. It seems like a trivial point, but having a sense of pitch becomes intuitive as a musician grows, and this would start a child off on the wrong foot.
If you just want it to complement your kids' Spongebob milieu, rock on.
