Ever since it got here, the "camel game" has been a favorite of most of it's players in my house. One family member is not that great at new games, or really complex stuff, and didn't care for it much at first, but like I thought, once people take the time to play it through a couple times, and they begin to understand it, it begins to grow on them.
At first it seemed confusing, but after reading through the instruction manual, I already had the sense that once we tried it, we'd find out that it was pretty easy, and I wasn't wrong. The other two of us got the basic idea after playing through just once. I do think the best way to learn it is just to play it step by step from the instruction book the first time. Don't sit and read it all beforehand, because you probably won't remember it anyhow. But don't be intimidated! This game is pretty fun once you get the hang of it.
It's refreshing to play something that is NOT one of the "classics" and it's really my favorite board game now next to Go. Plays well with 3 players, but not sure about playing with more than that. Probably it would go quicker, and be a bit more challenging the more people you have.
It's fun, it's not too long, and besides... how can you say no to a game with camels in it?
I only gave it 4 stars for quality because the cards are kind of flimsy. Everything else was great quality though. (Thick tiles and wooden camels.) 1 star for educational value though... don't see what you could possibly learn from this.
